, but if you think about it… In the end, did the design overhaul bring anything good to us authors?

Those devices are a way to keep big companies to exist and average people to waste time and energy.Very true, what a waste of time texting is, lol. Why would sit there and type on a micro mosquito size keyboard, when you could easily just use the phone portion of the device?
I mean, updating your twitter and facebook is one thing, but having a full blown conversation is another.
That has got to be the biggest waste of energy and time of all time.
Companies like never before take advantage of human psychology and do not care about the bad impact of their products on people’s daily life and the overall social behaviour in the world. They call it user-centered design, because people WANT these products
Instead, people start to behave like robots spending all their time on a screen getting information and “being social”.

Are there any good and complete tools (with maybe a user interface) for HTML5 /JS, like Flash Pro is for Flash? I guess everything is hard coded, right?

http://now.periscopic.com/2011/05/our-research-into-flash-and-html5-which-one-is-right-for-your-project/
99% of the world browsers supports flash and relatively only a small amount of the people have iPads. Okay. But how do we use Flash? Mainly for creating interfaces/experiences for advertising and showcasing services. Right? The most interesting user group to see these advertisements and showcases are the people who want and ARE ABLE to buy the showcased things. iPad is still a luxury product, most people who buy it have money. Therefore these people are seen as important by companies. Flash does not work on iPad/iPhone, HTML5 does and also on browsers. Do the math.
Companies do not care that much if something works perfectly smooth or not. As long as they can benefit most by reaching the high potential buyers with their content.
It’s maybe a weird thing to say, but I think Flash is starting to be interesting for web experiences in low income countries. And often when that happens with a product, it can be concluded as dead… We are not at that point yet though. So unless something changes in the market soon, I dont know what is the future of Flash.

var i:uint
for(i = 0; i < 8; i++)
{
var mov:myMovie = new myMovie();
mov.name = "mov"+i;
this.addChild(mov)
}
for(i = 0; i < 8; i++)
{
trace(this.getChildByName("mov" + i))
}
This works for me, are you doing the same?
I dont know if it is the formatting in the forums, but it seems you are doing this.addChild(mov) before you have created mov.

If it is for preview purposes only, it does not matter how large it is. I think it is safer to just put the files on the server instead of linking to another file which could be deleted in the future. If you keep it small, you only make it easier for yourself for example when you want to do an update etc.

Is there a way to simulate the video buffer in Flash Pro (or with a plugin) in the same way the swf/jpg download is simulated?
I am guessing it is not possible since I cant find anything about it, but maybe someone can clarify something about it.
