Three years ago I was one year out of college and working for a start up with inconsistent pay. I started following the tutorials on psdtuts to improve my skills, hoping it would open a door to a better job. Through psdtuts, I found graphic river, and thought it would be a great motivator to improve my skills and earn some extra cash, so that’s what I did :)

Since then, I’ve gotten freelance work from here, and built a nice portfolio from that freelancing and my graphic river portfolio. I’m now working at one of the most respected design studios in Atlanta. I’m so grateful for the Envato marketplaces and the opportunity Graphic River has given me to build my skillset, connect with other designers + clients around the world, and help me pay off my student loans.

So, a big thank you Envato for the author feature this week, and for having such a positive impact on my career!

October was a great month. My best since joining the river, too :)

These aren’t really choices, per se, because they’re all the same thing on different backgrounds. I’m not a huge fan of the tail, either..curve is too choppy. How about some more options (completely different) to choose from? That tail also made me wonder if you were an audio jungle author. Totally agree with you on making one on your own though..you’re an author + totally capable of kicking ass by yourself :)

I love this idea! And fully back Dzinc’s too, surprising it doesn’t already work that way!

this is reading to me like Mun. I think it’s crucial to the understanding that you rotate 90* like Legues suggested if you want people to understand you’ve got an S there. Having your name nearby isn’t enough (also explore a different typeface for your name, it’s too similar to your logo). I’m also having a difficult time with the extreme sharpness on the M joined with the smooth curves of your ’s’. It’s too much contrast in my opinion, and doesn’t feel harmonious at all, which it should if they’re being joined together. It feels too forced as is.

I have to say I’m a little concerned as well that this pricing will negatively affect our industry. Any customer could contact the author of their item to perform the listed services to the benefit of the author rather than a company. Please consider all of us authors who have contributed to these marketplaces to make them what they are. And as VF mentioned above, as well as many past forum posts, marketplaces as they are need dev investments prior to new ventures. I am so grateful for what you’ve built here, just asking for a step back to consider what offering these services at these prices could mean for each of us, and our industry as a whole.

...and i’m sure they’ll get what they pay for ;)

Not really worth getting upset about, people will always exist that offer something for free. lucky for you, you’ll always have paying clients because you value your work enough to put a price on it, and your clients will value you enough to pay for it :)
