I’ve been in bundles before so I can speak right? :)

Why extend from a few days to a week to 2 weeks – because your latest bundles haven’t been selling the same quantities therefore if you can’t sell the same numbers in the same period of time you increase the period of time which increases the exposure which you hope turns in to increased sales.

If it’s for traffic then why introduce bundles during busy seasons on the marketplace rather than during the slow months? I’ll bet the percentage of these new accounts that turn in to regular repeat full paying customers is in the low single digits.

Hey Justin – I just don’t understand the issue here, otherwise we would all have to restrict page content because it’s too long on mobile or is wider than mobile – use percentages if I’m missing something here please let me know.

Here’s the basic idea I wanted to do for the support area – doesn’t seem too long to me but it certainly won’t fit and I cannot style in any way to make it more usable:

Thanks so much for purchasing one of our items!

We back our products with a dedicated support center. Our support is limited to installation issues, and questions regarding functions of our theme (but not plugins).

Access to our support center is free and easy. Simply follow this link to register your account. We will then require you to enter your unique license code from your purchase which is available from your downloads page here at ThemeForest.net.

  • Visit your downloads page
  • Look for the particular item you are requesting support for
  • Look for the ‘Licence Certificate’ link next to the item
  • Download the file and open in a text editor
  • Look for and copy the unique code
  • Paste the code in the space provided when creating your support ticket

It is important you enter your license code as we must verify all purchases before we can answer your support request.

Thanks again and we look forward to serving you!

Here’s what I get:

As we can’t use strong or list items etc this is simply a block of plain text, which is not correct when attempting to address a web audience as things should have titles and emphasis on words where necessary – I don’t think anyone is looking for full html here, it would definitely be the wrong place for something that accepts divs and inline styling and full html – just basic styling would be nice.

I hope that helps illustrate the issue.

Jonathan

The current count is far too low for anyone to use effectively – I think enough people have mentioned that, and I’m not quite sure where the logic comes to restrict it anyway? Unless I am not quite understanding why there would be a limit in place to start with it seems totally unnecessary to do so.

There’s two main reasons:

1. I want to understand what on earth you need all that space for :) Are the things you’re trying to say things that we should be saying on every item on your behalf? Are they hinting at more checkboxes and preferences we should expose to all authors?

2. Generally speaking, the areas where we provide unlimited text and HTML are the areas where we now feel most restricted when it comes to redesigning the pages (or portions of them), re-appropriating content, etc. If we can get smaller, discrete pieces of content, we can move faster with redesigns, mobile, etc with less fear we’re breaking author’s stuff.

Hey Justin,

I don’t mean to be disrespectful at all but saying that larger content restricts you redesigning the pages seems silly – try making a page template for the masses in a WordPress theme :)

Content first – design second – and design should always accommodate the content – we can scroll unless you are thinking of removing browser scrolling.

I’m not trying to write a book, but to cleanly outline a thank you message, then an intro in to our support center and very basic instructions currently will not fit – at all. I didn’t say unlimited was 100% necessary but I will say the current count is 100% unusable.

Hope that helps

Jonathan

Please allow more text in that extra field. I cannot write even half of what i want, because it’s so so small…
What’s an example of the text you want to include? Why so much? Can we cover the issues you’re trying to address with extra support preferences or fields or general improvements to the Support tab in a way that that benefits all items and provides more consistency for buyers?

Please don’t disable comments or mess with them – they are an important part of buyer / potential buyer and author communication and can assist with sales if the author uses them correctly.

I agree multiple choice of support seems counter productive and confusing for buyers – best to stick to one option and funnel support via your preferred method is easier for everyone. Why would you want different product type support to be split anyway? Seems that would be harder for the author to start with :)

Hi – there’s no need to post 3 different threads for the same thing.

You should unzip your download, find the help file and follow the instructions.

Specific questions for a specific item should be directed to the author of the theme you purchased as this is a general forum. Inside your documentation should be details on how to obtain support if offered by the author.

So are you saying the edits you made broke the theme and now you need someone to fix them? I thought from your original message you were saying the theme is broke as supplied and doesn’t work in IE8 as advertised…

Now that we’re done, we were going to test it and found that the theme used doesn’t work on IE8. I understand that this is an old browser, but the agency that is my client is large, not up to date, and it’s not financially feasible for them to re-license all of their computers (they’re using a version of Windows that won’t allow for them to update to IE9 or 10).
Why don’t they install Chrome or Firefox or Opera? It’s free and they will have a better “surfing” experience 8-)

If you’ve never worked in a corporate environment it’s not about installing another browser – they have legacy systems that require certain browsers, run only Microsoft products because they believe the .net graduate in the IT department when he says everything has to be Microsoft etc – it’s just not that simple.

Therefore you should check out all this stuff before offering a contract and actually finding out what the clients expectations and technical requirements are before creating anything for them.

If a theme is advertised as being IE8 compatible you should contact the author for them to fix it…. if it does work with IE8 as provided then changes you made must of broken it possibly.

Seems like a great step forward – however the lack of HTML (simple) in the message box and limiting to 6 lines isn’t really that great and would appreciate at the least indefinite lines but being able to add strong to words really helps with usability and heading titles also assists in usability and readability and feel it’s really a requirement.

Also, is this update what caused my logging in and out and messages appearing back after clearing them from my dashboard as per my forum thread? Did it break other things again?
