Sounds like you’ve been through the rejection process a time or two, too

Hey Guys,
I’m working on a new, personal blog/portfolio WP theme, Leap: http://ireed.net/leapLast week, I submitted it for approval and was rejected with the following feedback:
This is a really nice start and I really dig the casual concept. The main issue here is that the design is just too simple to be sold in the WP category. We do accept simpler designs but only for the very occasional mobile designs as well as v cards.
As is, as I mentioned, the design is too basic and lacks details to be sold as a premium theme.
The main issues are with the inner pages, the blog and portfolio specially. Focus on using a more unique layout to try and differentiate the design. As with details, there are very little visual cues in the design, designed to add originality to the design. To see this in action, use a solid background and you’ll see the sparseness.
I also asked the rest of the team and here is what they said:
“Feels incomplete—like in the middle of development”
“Nice concept but feels.. empty.”
I’m struggling to determine how to improve the layout/design – I’m “too close” to the project at this point to see things objectively. This is where I really need your help – based on the feedback given, how do you feel Leap can be improved?
Again, here is the link: http://ireed.net/leap/Thanks for the help, Reid

The sad thing is the general public may see tools like this and then assume that all websites are built this way. Drag and drop, cookie cutter, easy. :/ However, it really takes several hours and thousands of lines of coding to come up with a truly awesomely crafted website.

I love it. Looks more serious/professional in my opinion. Going to take a little bit of getting used to, but this is exactly what themeforest (and the other sites) needed! Great job.
