I see the boards are still as riveting as ever…

I remember when i first joined AD (or FD as it was back then) – the forums were a fantastic place to be, very rarely did any sort of argument or personality clash occur.

I think that as the amount of active members across the marketplaces has drastically increased the more likely that it has become that two members will have completely contrasting views and personality clashes… I very rarely visit the forums these days which is a shame as there was a time when I would have been on here for hours at a time, this is because the majority of threads I look at have this sort of childish and unnecessary arguing… In fact, I think that this sort of behaviour can account for the fact I rarely see ANY of the veteran members posting in the forums these days…

People need to learn to bite their tongues, and if that isn’t possible then they need to learn that public forums are not the right place, it not only damages the reputations of the people involved but it can have effects on the other users… the users that read the boards, the users that try to pacify the situation… and even cause users to ignore the forums altogether… myself included.

It wasn’t my intention to ruffle any feathers here, we have a requirement for a programmer and I personally chose ActiveDen straight away because I know it is rammed full of talented programmers.

Yes, I could have quite easily gone to FreelanceSwitch or any of the other job boards for that matter but I thought that I would give the members here first refusal on the position, especially with the economy and unemployment rates being in such a bad way.

This community has been close to my heart for the majority of my programming career and it has given me a lot, just thought it would be cool to try and give something back, even if only to one person.
