A thought for those in Italy (Earthquake)

absolutely, is ignorance and fatalism. we all know earthquakes happens yet few make pressure on the government to prepare for this events. The government actually minimize and accuse people of creating chaos. Just yesterday I was reading about an agency in Italy who announced they predicted the earthquake from the last week in the north (this one from today is the second) and they also said that there will be a big one in the south in the next couple of months maximum two years. They were immediately accused of creating panic and they should just shut up.

go figure.

Today two of the earthquakes has been felt also here in the extreme west of italy (Imperia). Nothing serious, but is always a bit scary.

The fault line that passes under Modena is moving for months now, but in these days there are too many movements. Only in the last two days there were 3 or 4 earthquakes stronger than 5.0 and in the last week something like FIVE HUNDRED smaller earthquakes…is terrifying!

Are not very powerful earthquakes, the same in other countries as Japan will be a joke, but houses and historical structures in Italy are not prepared to this. Just think that the last earthquake stronger than 5.0 in that zone dates back 500 year ago!!!

Hope this nightmare will finish soon. In italy there is already such a huge crisis….

I am in Austria and woke up during the earthquake last week at 4AM. Can only imagine how strong it was in Italy.

Do you think the world will end in december? I am scared :/

Hey Tsafi, I’m fine, thanks… just a little bit scared… here in Milan the shakes were a bit strong (though not so strong as in the center of Italy)

I’m never serious, you should already knew.
Human rage (4-5M years since first hominids) is an almost invisible dot on Universe age. And it will continue invisible for many million years more. Thinking that the world is ending during our invisible period is, at least, selfish and full of ourselves.

But i understand it’s exciting to think that something big is going to happen during our tiny lives.

There were also a few (3 or 4) consecutive earthquakes in Bulgaria about a week ago, which also shook us here quite well (without any damage here, around 200 kms from the epicenter) but with some minor damage in the area of ‘strike’

Everything is falling apart!

Sorry for your loss, Italy…
I hope the “time” will be enough to heal these wounds for those who suffered, who lost their friends/family members.

That is little bit more of “Newtonian confident” to assume human existence is tiny. Due to the same reason we perceive “Time as too much infinite” on both the ends of our existence, it makes us to compare it to dreams. Even on dreams we see the time and space are infinite from that frame (our brain able to simulate the feel of infinite) and things get collapsed awkwardly/immediately after dreams and then infinities loses meaning (not necessarily due to earthquake or bad incident ). So… lets allow some room for “we don’t know”.

Btw, the small but continuous activities on earth surface (beating past records) could be a wakeup call we need to see. Carbon emissions are something very new and special for earth within past 100 years in the span of millions of years.
