So my wife and I started attending a new church after being laid off our other one. For good reason, I was scared to jump right in and join the music team, among other things… But I got a call from the worship minister who said their other drummer (a 65-year-old woman named Shirley) hurt her back and he needed a drummer for rehearsal tomorrow and church on Sunday. So I agreed because it was easier for me to justify jumping in if I was “just going to help him out.”
Sunday morning came and our sound check got done and through my in-ear came a voice from the sound guy at the other end of the sanctuary. It said, “Phil, you don’t know me but I own a production company and have used 5 or 6 of your songs off AudioJungle.”
I couldn’t explain to him what this meant to me. A buyer just became a person. He had seen my avatar scroll across the screen in the new song section on the home page and said it looked like a face he’d seen around town, and sure enough… We live in a town of about 60,000. AJ’s community is also rather large. The Envato community as a whole is unfathomable and growing immensely on a daily basis. What are the odds?
We are going to grab coffee here soon and I want to pick his brain and begin a partnership somehow.
In a sea of mysterious buyers who have the same mysterious grey man avatar, I hope you can find that buyer who becomes a person. These are real-life people choosing YOU to enhance their business.
Hope this encourages you today.
Phil

Wow, meeting an Envato buyer definitely a rare case, kudos!
Btw, if anyone of my buyer able to see me, there could be unpleasant requests like ‘when you are going to fix that IE glitch?’

Amazing story. Thanks for the post Phil. Very neat!
Wow, that’s so cool not only because you met a buyer who bought your music, but your church has in-ear monitoring systems? Wow. Must be a big church!

Great stuff Phil and thanks for posting the story. I have yet to be “recognized”. I typically wear my Envato t-shirts while travelling to see if anyone out there knows the logo.
Come to think of it, the last time I was in Australia they stopped me and rifled through my bags at airport security…could it have been because of the t-shirt I was wearing?
That is an amazing story man, sometimes buyers turn up in the most random times! Something similar recently happened to me
I saw one of my clients from freelancing and met him at the store, when we had just only previously spoken on the web. It is amazing to actually meet people and speak face to face!
