To Envato Team,
We come in good faith and we are here to stay. I must say that each and every one of us in this great community are proud and happy to be here. We know that you guys are doing a great job and are busy with other tasks. Our intention is not to distract you from any on-going projects but to help you as you help us to resolve this particular uprising issue which you are already aware of and have received many negative comments from different authors.
The least you can do for us is to let us have access to the username(s) of the people that bought our items. Item with one sale and already abused – we will kindly send the usernames so that you will take immediate action. You don’t have to monitor any item sales, we the owners will do that and will send you the usernames which is similar to sending different (abuse) links to you to take appropriate action. I am sure this will help and put an end to this issue. No one will go against the buyer. All reports will be forwarded to you for appropriate action.
Hope you will consider this.
Thank you Envato!

Now makes sense why you need this option, but I think the best solution will be to contact support if after first sell your item is on the web for free.

You better invest your time in something more creative than that.

Charles, you should have said that you wanted this feature because you wanted to stop piracy. As Marius said, you should contact support if it happens.
You have a great portfolio, I can recognize your style whenever I stumble upon any of your items and you have a well-deserved good number of followers. You shouldn’t have said that you could use this to inform buyers when a file is being updated or when an author uploads a new file, because this is useless and it looks bad. There are other good ways to make your updates visible. Anyway, I apologize for being so harsh, I had no idea that all this was because you wanted a feature against piracy. But it is not a good idea to know who your buyers are, whatever the reason is.

Whilst I agree with you and others in this thread, that an update notification option for buyers would be a good idea, (You can sort your downloads by ‘recently updated’ btw), giving us, as Authors, access to usernames and buyer information is completely useless.
As an Author, we have no ability to stop people who will misuse our files from buying them – this is down to Support and the Marketplace Staff.
We also have no right to overstep the buyer’s anonymity just because they purchased our file.
You say it would be easier to send a single username to Support staff instead of sending the abused links and all other information…
The fact of the matter is, you would need provide the links and piracy proof anyway, so your method of simply providing a username cuts no time or effort because you’re providing Support with nothing they don’t already know.
All imo of course…
...anyway, let’s keep this thread away from piracy discussion, or else you know the score.

How is it against buyer privacy? If you sell a car, don’t you want to who your customer is? Also, the information doesn’t have to be public, just linked to the author.
This is not about selling cars, for example you can buy a painting but remain anonymous
.
I don’t have a need to know who the buyers are, but really like a “Update Notifier” tab, that would be much more useful. Before I read this thread, I thought that the item updates automatically notified to the buyer.
A “Update Notifier” tab lets you write the description of the update and lets you broadcast the message to the buyers emails with a “Notify Buyers”.
Under the form there will be update history for each item, time and date and details about the update, last update date etc.
Well, that’s it.
