Hi,

I was wondering whether android icons are free to use for own application. I saw there are a lot of freebies to download..but afraid to use them :(

Anyone would like to share this?

Each set of icons will have it’s own copyright.

You’ll have to do the research yourself to find out which icon sets can be used for commercial purposes.

When in doubt, contact the author.

i think you would have to contact the person who made the icons on that site and then go from their.. but i could be wrong..

You can use IconFinder

http://www.iconfinder.com/search/?q=android

Then, click license filter dropdown (top right), and choose “Allowed for commercial use”... ;)

Can I ask one more question? I assume some of the android icons are free for use (Some of the icons are from native android system). What if I want to do modification for the icons? Would that be possible?

please check the license, for example, one of icon has Creative Commons (Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported) license, you can read it

Every case is going to be different.

You also need to watch out for stuff posted (as free) on a lot of websites. It’s not uncommon to find content from other places (like graphicriver) being posted as free downloads.

Stick to reputable websites. Smashing Magazine is a good source for free graphics.
