I have never used virus protection or a firewall (apart from on my router) and have never had any problems. A little common sense goes a long way :-)

I was like you. Never used anything. One day, 800USD was taken from my credit card from unknown person. There are some invisible Trojans tracking for personal info. Now I am with KIS . The best AV.

Took me like an hour to figure how to remove the Conficker virus, this is world plagues that strike all over the globe. Check if you are infected.
If infected here is the patch to remove it . http://vil.nai.com/vil/conficker_stinger/S.T.I.N.G.E.R.exe

I cannot believe any of you would click these links!!! And one of them is an executable named “S.T.I.N.G.E.R.exe”!

I’m sure tsafi is not a purveyor of viruses but imagine if someone came here masquerading as a member and posted links to an executable that actually contained serious virus/trojan horse stuff.

NEVER visit risky sites and NEVER download executables from unknown sources. If you do so you are just begging for infection!

+1.

And to those who dont have any antivirus and are on Windows, I hope one day just after you have backed up everything you get a really nasty virus, hopefully correcting such a niave few without doing any actual harm.

You can be as careful as you please with your browsing and yes your firewall will stop alot of stuff but I cant believe several of you have said that :O

For you MAC users, one day a smartish developer will touch a MAC and write a pathetic virus yet it will manage to kill you all lol :P
