Hey folks! Last month I gave a little report on how VideoHive was doing on their forums and it was really well received, and someone asked for a similar update on AudioJungle … so here I am!

Sales Records

It’s actually a very exciting time for AudioJungle at the moment as we seem to be on a record breaking sales bent! Last month sales jumped a stunning 25% in one month!

This made AudioJungle the fastest growing marketplace in September, comfortably beating out VideoHive (which saw a very, very respectable 18% growth that month).

September was also interesting because it was the first month when AudioJungle surpassed it’s big brother ActiveDen in sales revenue. For those of you who don’t remember, audio used to be a category on ActiveDen way back when. It was the second marketplace we ever launched when we spun the category out from under ActiveDen’s wings. So it’s kind of amazing to see that it’s now larger than the site that housed it all back in the day!

Extended Licenses

One interesting stat that I learned when researching for this post was that sales of Extended Licenses here on AudioJungle have tripled since May!

By comparison regular license sales are up a healthy, but not as large, 50% in the same time period. So Extended Licenses are growing as a proportion of the site. This is really exciting as they are much bigger ticket items and bring in a lot more revenue for authors. It also kinda explains all the people talking about their first EL sale last month!

AudioJungle Authors FTW

Speaking of authors, according to the Top Authors listings, we now have over 2000 Authors with at least 1 sale on AudioJungle! That is a crazily large number of people who’ve had actual sales already!

Last month saw two of our top authors acquire Gold Paws for themselves. It’s just a matter of time before they join Soundroll in the ranks of the Envato Elite group. I’m very excited to see which of the pair (Tim and Ralf) gets there first as they are neck and neck!!

So overall, things seem to be going really, really well over here in the ‘Jungle, at least from the high level overview.

How are you guys finding things? And while I am here, are there any major things we should be working to change or improve? I’ve been wanting to look at licensing soon, what else is happening on AudioJungle?

I think things are going amazing here! Last month my sales doubled from August and so far in October they’re on track to nearly double September! It feels like sales are just pouring in like crazy at the moment. Im incredibly happy I chose Audiojungle as my exclusive marketplace above all the others.

Very nice. Over half of my total sales came in September so things are definitely bustling. Congrats to all :)

September was by far my best month of the two years I’ve been at AudioJungle, and looking at some other authors’ stats I’m not surprised that September was a good month in general.

I love AudioJungle, and have very few complaints. @Collis – since you asked :), there are a few things I’d like to see (mostly geared toward us non-exclusive authors):

1. Exclusivity per item. It would be great not to have to split your portfolio in two (and essentially start all over again) in order to list exclusively.

2. Some sort of sliding scale for non-exclusive authors like the exclusive authors have, not as lofty, of course, but a little bit of a hike for reaching certain revenue amounts.

3. One thing I was thinking of the other day is some sort of automatic posting when authors hit a milestone (a new paw, or 500 sales, etc.). Authors are using the forums to do this already, but it would be cool for this to just happen and add a bit of exposure every now and then. I haven’t really thought this through, so I’d have no idea how it would look :).

Thanks for the stats, BTW – it’s interesting and encouraging to see that information.

Thanks, Collis! I have a feeling that this is really only the beginning of what we will look back upon five years from now as when we actually started to see the real growth. There is always room for change and improvement, especially for those who want to be better. That said, AJ is far and away the best audio marketplace out there, and we continue to prove that as we grow through the years. I have been an author here for over a year, and have been a regular visitor and customer of Envato from the very first month of its inception. So it is with a great sense of pride and happiness that I look upon these numbers you have shared with us the last couple months.

I only have a couple of things that continually pop up in my “dream list” of updates here. The biggest one being Analytics. If we had access to just a little more info (nothing that would allow for us to gain access to customers directly) we would be able to better focus our efforts out there when driving traffic to the site. I know many of us here put in a lot of hours marketing, networking, etc and never really know what works and what doesn’t, so we could all be more efficient with a little help in this area.

Another big one is search, but I will not beat that one to death because I know there has been a lot of work and research going into this one for quite some time now.

I would like to add one small request before signing off. What are your thoughts on moving the opportunity to rate a file to the moment of purchase? The interface experience could be very similar to the preview windows that have been used for VideoHive previews, etc. A customer clicks to complete the purchase and this windows appears over the current screen asking them to rate the file and share some feedback. I feel that this would work in the favor of everyone here, authors and customers alike. Those browsing files would see more interaction with each other and learn more about how others thought of and used the files in question. While the authors would gain priceless insights through the comments and gain more “cred” for their hard work on the files that do the best. We have all seen countless files on AJ with a ton of sales and barely any ratings. I think everyone would see more communication on and about our files as a vote of confidence and an opportunity to improve our work.

That’s my two cents on the matter. Thanks again, Collis for building such an incredible network full of great resources and the marketplaces for us all to gather in and grow together. And above all, for a wonderful experiences!

Cheers, OhmLab

AudioJungle is certainly a very exciting place to be right now!

I agree with OhmLab about improving the Analytics system. It is of very limited use right now and I sometimes wonder if the action I see on it is simply myself previewing and modifying my files.

Also, a few times I’ve had a sale and checked the Analytics a day or two later only to find that the item registered zero views during that time period. Is it possible that the Analytics system is missing some item views?

Hello,

I’ve only been here for about 5 month’s and I only started selling about three months ago. In those three months, things have been great. I saw the same thing most everyone saw in September. A big sales increase. More than half of my sales came from the last three weeks of September!

First of all, I love the environment here in the Envato Marketplaces. You have a very impressive company going here. So whatever you are doing to cultivate your corporate culture, keep doing it!

My thoughts on improvement for AudioJungle…..and the entire marketplaces would be definitely improving the search function on all of the marketplaces. I have been purchasing items for my new website from PhotoDune, GraphicRiver, and ThemeForest. I often find items that are completely unrelated to my search. It can be difficult to find exactly what you’re looking for, and the process of locating just one item can typically take at the least, one hour, sometimes several. I’m not saying the experience is necessarily a bad one; it could just maybe use a little work. I will say, Envato has the best artists and authors that I’ve seen on any other site out there. I am forever a fan, that’s for sure.

Anyway, I expect that the Jungle will show no sings of slowing in growth anytime soon.
