[Authors] JavaScript Fallback functionality

Hi authors,

Many of the items being submitted as of late do not include JavaScript fallback functionality; meaning the template will still display content appropriately and/or make it fully accessible in the event JavaScript is not available.

In order to meet our approval requirements for the site templates category, templates that heavily rely on JavaScript (ie. one page templates, V-Cards, etc.) must provide the above mentioned functionality. This also applies to regular templates, though it generally doesn’t affect them as much due to the nature of their design.

I’ll also be making my best effort to increase JS quality requirements as I’ve seen several templates with poor JS coding. This hasn’t been too much of an issue before but it’s an important aspect of modern premium templates.

As a forewarning, arguing that some other template already in the marketplace doesn’t offer this functionality will not be a valid excuse for the exclusion of this functionality in your template. We can’t force older templates to conform to newer, tighter requirements but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t require this for new items. You might consider including this “feature” in your item description as well.

With all these quality requirements being added I really don’t think my theme is going to be excepted even though I’ve been working on it for nearly 3 months now, trying to get it perfect and tidy.

I know their needed but the upload date of my theme is getting further and further away

You’re welcome to check the template with a reviewer before submitting. Submit a support request to have a reviewer (specify which reviewer if you know, or at least the category you’ll be submitting to) take a look and let you know if you’re on track or if there will be issues. Doing this will save you some time and possibly prevent some frustration.

I don’t see a point in this, as most of the users don’t turn off their JS.
