Can’t tell anything, but there are 3 certain facts :
a) it will give edge to some authors experienced in both AE and C4D b) it will attract more buyers due improved visuals c) it will force AE-only authors to produce even better AE-only projects to attract buyers…
of course no one knows the future, so i can’t predict how the buyers will respond to this, but both c4d and 3ds max have amazingly big users community, so i don’t believe that this will be a failure..
One thing to consider is the price.. I think that AE-only items should have bigger value due their simplicity, and cause they are more user-friendly , but.. that’s up to reviewers

My opinion is that this option is rather confusing for buyers. I don’t know…
I tend to disagree, actually
I think adding 3D files will enhance certain AE projects. It will entirely be up to the author to make it easy for the buyer to customize the project through video tutorials and good project support.
I also don’t think it will kill AE-only projects. I believe there will always be a huge market for AE-only projects, because not every buyer has a 3D program.
In my opinion, this just gives buyers authors alike more options!

purchasers who want c4d projects will buy, who don’t want they will not buy… So simply.
its great that we have new category. I hope that staff will think about other 3d softwares…
maybe Im wrong but as I can see on vimeo, youtube, mograph portfolios… c4d is really the most popular 3d software in the world in last few years, but why do not give a chance to other 3d software?

Hello everyone,
I assumed there would be quite a few mixed reactions
. Unfortunately I can’t officially announce the new section today. We’re having some problems with the previews, which I’m sure you guys have noticed already. Once it gets sorted it will get it’s proper announcement and promotions.
For now, I can tell you I’ve been dying to get this section live for quite some time. And I’m elated that it’s finally here!
Why Cinema
While it’s always going to be possible to do what you need to do in other packages like 3DS Max, or Maya. I find the other programs to be a bit more difficult to learn, and harder to get around in. In my eyes, Cinema4D gives people the most bang for the buck. And it also works extremely well in Motion Graphics. I’ve found that most mograph guys use Cinema4D as their 3D software, some use 3DS Max, and very few use Maya. I know those last two are used heavily in bigger 3D productions. But for general motion graphics, Cinema4D is the program of choice by most.Cinema4D Forever?
Well forever’s a long time, and I’m looking to be flexible here. 3D plays a tremendous role in today’s motion graphics, so I’ve known I wanted to create a section behind it for some time. Consider Cinema4D our way to test the waters. What I can tell you is that if other programs get added at some point, it won’t be for a very long time. And if we do look to add a new program it would probably be something like Blender before we add anything more serious. 3DS Max is a long way’s out, if at all. And we’ll probably not see Maya at any time.Impact on AE Projects
Don’t really think they’ll be much of an impact for a few reasons.- Quality standards are very high, and the projects are harder to make, so I’m not expecting to see nearly as many submissions here. There won’t be a gigantic library of files to overwhelm the AE section, for quite some time.
- I’m sure there is a large chunk of our buyer base that does not have access to C4D and probably doesn’t have any intentions on picking up a license, just because of this new section.
- Because of the increased time to create, and the increased difficulty, these files are going to be priced a good bit higher than current AE only projects.
- All of our submissions must make use of AE at some point to finish the project. We’re not looking for 3D only projects. If they are 3D only, they belong on 3DOcean for the time being.
On a side note, I would have been here earlier explaining things, but we had dinner at my fiance’s mother’s house last night where everyone turned out to be sick. So I woke up today with the beautiful surprise of strep throat / bronchitis / whatever other possible diseases I could have contracted. Feeling like death right now, but I can’t be too mad, tis the season for giving.

I will agree with Mocarg and Alex. I was a little surprised with occurrence C4D section. It will seems to me that projects C4D not to use any popularity since these projects it is more difficult to customize than ?? and for certain the price it will be ready above than on ?? projects. There can be I am mistaken, but it seems to me that to buyers availability and simplicity of process customization and high speed of rendering even on not the most powerful computers is important. However, I treat kindly integration C4D in ?? projects, it raises their staginess. The good example – the project CUBISM , very much looks well and is on sale)
Mark I hope you will soon recover)))

DaniMult saidWell yes, these projects will be a bit more difficult to customize, but with a little time any buyers will see it’s not really THAT difficult. If one can get around in After Effects, they should be able to customize one of these Hybrid projects with ease. Essentially all it involves is..

- Opening the C4D project
- Changing the text, or other elements that need to be customized
- Render the animations over the provided placeholders
- Open AE, and it should all link back up, except now with your customized renderings
- Tweak the AE options that have been provided
- Render your final video
I think this new section will appeal to the crowd that’s looking for more professional level projects. The few we have now and the others I’m about to approve are at the quality level that one would expect to see in broadcast, truly amazing work. And I think having this section just allows us to appeal to a larger demographic of buyers. If you want something that’s just AE based, for a quick project, we have to you covered. But in the past if you wanted a professional level motion graphic with fully customizable 3D, you’d have to look somewhere else (and trust me there aren’t many places to turn), or hire someone directly. Now VH is a one stop shop for all things motion graphics. I think it’s an obvious evolution, and one that will quickly become more apparent to all members.
I have long bought and used c4d projects as well (and yes just C4d no max no maya pls), they are a pain to render, take forever (unless you also buy vray, which is costly), very hard to use C4d compared to ae… most high end network sports animation logos etc use c4d and ae together, so it’ll be good to see experienced c4d authors who can do sports-network/broadcast logo animations as a category too … pricing re should always be somewhere less than $40-$70 like other sites that sell c4d logo animation templates i’d think.
I’d rather see just higher-end better and better quality ae projects, though c4d’s always welcome too i guess.

I am guessing there was a ’’insider’’ invite to some of the better authors to create some AE-C4d projects to launch the feature? I wonder what the specifications where for this since i have been dying to use this feature myself.. too bad i and others weren’t included in this.
Love the feature nonetheless, thanks for making it possible.
btw. i have a feeling videohive is going to change the industry once and forever with this. Sooner or later, everyone will join the bees here

Two thing are going to change for me:
1. Create better AE projects.
2. Start learning C4D (and become damn goood with it!)
Overall : not bad, not at all bad. Good luck to those who master 3D and patience for the rest that are about to dive in. no serious motion graphic designer can get away with no knowledge in 3D software. This is for the best!

so, I must learn C4D ?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????? or I can sleep calmly and stay with 3dsmax?
