C4D Upload project?

I don’t think it was a comment about the relative merits of different 3D softwares.

But you’ve got to start somewhere… and there’s been rather a lot of time, effort and thought put into the concept and process of how you make a seamless and easy to use template out of a project that’s divided between two programs.

I guess if hybrid C4DAE projects are majorly successful here (and it’s a big “if”), then it would make sense to roll it out to other 3D programs, but it makes no sense to roll something this new and experimental out to all 8 main 3D apps simultaneously. If it were to bomb, it would amount to a gargantuan waste of time. Look at this as groundwork.

BTW , I really don’t think anyone needs to worry too much about this eating away at pure AE sales. If anything it will help to bring in a new audience and boost those sales.

Well if you want to submit files to the new section here, then yes, you’ll need to learn Cinema. If you are just referring to your mograph work in general, then it’s really whatever you feel comfortable doing. I’m sure if you’re good in 3DSM, the transition over to C4D will be a very easy one. If you’re thinking about checking it out to submit to the new section, I’d suggest downloading a trial and see what you can come up with.

If you don’t want to bother, you can still continue doing pre-renders within Max and making AE only projects.

We’ll the insider that gave the invite was me . This is the first new category we’ve added to VH since launch, so the guys that only hang out here may not be familiar with the Envato process for new sections. On all of the other marketplaces, when we roll out a new section, we put the word out to a few authors to generate some seed files. We find that it’s best to not roll out a section blank, so we get a few files to start it up with. I’m sorry you weren’t selected this time Mass, I was scrambling to find a few guys, so I contacted the few I knew we’re familiar with C4D . Didn’t know you worked in it. But now the section’s open to everyone, can’t wait to see your files!

Can one and same item be uploaded as AE only project with prerenders and as AE+C4D project so first one is cheaper for those who don’t need C4D version and other is more expensive with more advanced C4D features?

Where should we read about witch modules we can use, the project organization, how do you guys want the external compositing tag (null or solid), the text in mograph or extruded spline?,what version of the software, use of free script yes or no, GI ? and so on…
On the other hand since is a new cat, i would love to see more basic (price friendly) project in order to have new users buying just to give a try or look how there are made and play around…

That’s a good question. Honestly it’s a possibility, like on ThemeForest, we have authors that will submit their file a few times. Once as a PSD , once as an HTML file, and once as a Wordpress theme.

But it works there, and it may or may not work so well here. I think it’s a matter of getting a feel for the buyers in this new section, and I’m afraid it’s a bit too early to tell. There are a few AE only projects that started in Cinema but are provided as just pre-renders. The authors of those projects could update the file to include their Cinema file and provide the necessary upload instructions, and then request to have the file moved to the Cinema section.

But to provide a clear answer, yes it’s possible, but it’s not something we’re going to accept just yet. I’d like to see how new projects do before we start allowing variations on older projects. But it’s a definite possibility in the near future.

Hey Arthur,

Good questions, but a lot comes down to personal preference. Like the extruded spline, or mograph text question…it really depends on what works best for your project. And which would be easiest to customize.

In terms of Modules, you can use any one of the modules that are provided by Maxon. I’m going to add a new field to the upload form soon where authors can specify which modules are required for the file to work. But like AE and plug-ins, authors should try to do as much as they can without resorting to modules, just to ensure it’s usable by the largest group of buyers. But on the flip side, this section is really targeted towards buyers with a slightly higher experience level, so it is possible that many people who will be interested in this section, may have the needed Modules. Mograph, being a pretty obvious one.

Overall : not bad, not at all bad. Good luck to those who master 3D and patience for the rest that are about to dive in. no serious motion graphic designer can get away with no knowledge in 3D software. This is for the best!
