How are you guys tracking your clients, their projects and the payment done for each project? From 37 Signals we’re using Basecamp. Is there any of their other tools appropriate for this task?

I use Freshbooks for clients, invoices and payments etc which is free and useful, Basecamps free service doesn’t allow file uploading which is why i’d want to try it…?

With FB you can ‘delete’ clients and then undelete them later so if your ok with moving clients in and out the deleted folder when invoicing them then you can try the free package which limits you to 3, otherwise they have tiered solutions similar to BC.

I’ve heard good things about BC, whats your opinion? Whats making you look elsewhere?

Someone mentioned another one thats new several days ago, will try and find it for you.

edit: found the thread here :)

Actually Basecamp is very good for what it does. We’re using the 24$/month option – the 15 projects they offer is enough for us.

I’m not planning to give up on using them. I was actually interested in finding the easiest way there is to keep a track of clients, the projects we do for them and the payments.

I know about the invoice machine, and also about freshbooks. Both of which are too complex. We need something even simpler than that.

Or else we’ll build it.
