So I read the other day that all FB pages/ apps need to be hosted on SSL servers. Can anyone clarify this for me? Does that mean my app won’t show is it’s not on my secure domain?

and do I need a SSL cert?

I’m afraid the answer is “yes”. Right now you can still view apps on http disabling temporaly the https browsing. But it’s supposed, from October 2nd. to be “mandatory” (FB words) for all Apps. There is another thread with more info, started by Venataur.

Last week i updated mines.
I really hope FB will move back this stupid decission, as they did with the Dev confirmation process. But talking about someone that has “M.Z – I’m CEO , Bitch” in his business cards, we can expect anything.

I’ve recovered a bit more info. Urls:
http://www.andreamoro.co.uk/blog-en/internet/facebook-apps-ssl/
http://www.wpcode.net/fb-ssl.html/

Really surprised to read that you will also need the SSL for Facebook Connect plugin! And most probably, for all FB interactions from other websites. Very very funny. :(

I’m sure GoDaddy owners are right now clapping their hands on a dark garage in Silicon Valley.

And the point is: funny that we need https fro FB Apps, when here in all Envato marketplaces, with all the money around, we are still surfing on http.

That’s good. FB templates became nothing more than short time revenue, too short life time than expected! :D

Just opted-in for https with my hoster. I guess its better to pay 5€ per month more than having to remove the facebook templates all together.

Im just worried about the support questions that will arise from this https change…

Just tell them “contact Mark Suzkerberg for more info”. Realised i wrote wrong your name.

5/month is a good price. As i said, we can tell our customers that the average price is around $75-$100. Because we will receive many questions about pricing.
