Does anyone know how to place a favicon for a site? I’ve followed the instructions on websites I’ve visited but I have been unsuccessful. If anyone can visit my site and view it’s source code, it would be very helpful.

Thank you!

all you need to do is place this line
< link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”favicon.ico”>
between the < head>< /head> tags, and then placing the favicon.ico file in the same folder, done :)

Make sure the icon is 16×16 pixels

I’ll give it a try. This is where I have the favicon icon uploaded. If you visit this link, you will see the favicon working, but its not showing up on my site. Let me try the lines you gave me.

As I said, make it 16×16, not 18×18, otherwise it wont work. At least thats what Ive been taught :)

Also, I’m pretty sure that it needs to be an ICON filetype, not jpg.

This is a cool generator that I use to make these: http://www.favicon.cc/

Here’s all you need – this site will generate the icon and give you the code – it’s great : http://www.chami.com/tips/internet/110599I.html

As of yesterday I was able to create the favicon at my site and it is all thanks to everyone in this post. For some reason I’m not seeing posted my “thank you” which I submitted yesterday and hopefully this one will be posted :)
