Hey guys,

I’ve recently had a file refused for having Monopoly in the title, the email I’d received mentioned this:

“Due to copyright laws, GraphicRiver can not accept illustrations of copyrighted logos or products (e.g., iPhones, Coca-Cola). Please avoid logo use and use general characteristics (an illustration of an “mp3 player” rather than an iPod) and general descriptions in future submissions.”

If that’s true, then why can Twitter backgrounds and other types be approved?

Not all logo/brands have the same license. Twitter alows the use of there logo because its a social site that runs on other people, allowing the use of there logo increases their success.

Othere example, if you want to use the brand nike you have to pay to use there logo.

The best thing is not use brands in graphic or themes

Sometimes you may not even know you are using a licensed brand. One of my first GraphicRiver files was rejected for using the €-symbol, which after more investigation appeared to be no problem in the end. A bit more recently, I had to change a file description to avoid the word “post-it” cause that is a registered brand… :-)

I had a file rejected because I used a twitter logo in it (it was a twitter background). So it’s probably best to check with the reviewers before using any logo.

Did you use the actual Twitter logo or was it your own design?

I used the twitter logo as an overlay (the way it is on twitter) it was not part of the design, it was to be used as guide layer to help the purchaser customize the background.
