I totally agree with you :) I dont see why everyone here hates filesonic… its not like they were uploading your themes, the people that bought them did. So why all the hate to filesonic haha :D:) ?
Well when you become a author and start selling thing to have people steal potential money join back in the chat… this is a good thing, now many of the links that are out there are now dead and we might get more sales.
Naa…. pirates will probably find another website or another way to pirate better :P , i have spent over 400$ on this website if i wanted to i could “share” all my items but why should i give them to people for free? when i paid for them… Also i see that it would be unfair to the authors :)

There are guys who do not see the situation like you see it. Unfortunately :(

Also, with everyone getting scared, the FBI is just becoming a bigger bully. They’re gonna think they can do anything now, and the SOPA and PIPA bills will be that much more likely to get passed. And honestly, if you are not scared of the SOPA and PIPA bills, then really go and really read up on them. Things are about to change big time for all of us… We’ll just have to wait and see which way.

Exactly, some of these sites should go down but it should not be in the hands of the US government.

I hate them all with the file sharing sites and I’d be so pissed to work 6 months and lose tens, maybe hundreds of sales. But it’s something you should already know when in this industry – like a calculated risk.

Same goes for everyone, but I didn’t see big guys here bitch about it on the forums. (though I wonder how pissed off freshface was, that he went on and created Freshkiller).

Personally, as much as I hate to say it, I don’t think the phenomenon will ever go away. They’re like a freakin’ Hydra, look what followed Napster. If entities like the FBI had a solution for this, what’s taking them like since 20 years to implement it?

On a side note, I’d love to know, statistically, how many people who download themes from such sites eventually turn into customers, as someone mentioned before.

Yh, the was a rapper who said the people that download your music are the people who come to the concerts, so making him more money than the CD.

With all these file sharing sites disappearing. How is this impacted on google.

For example yes they crawl sites and retrieve image info etc, but example search for images. And they are facilitating the spread of perhaps copyright material. Will the FBI be going after them aswell ?

I know the material isnt directly uploaded, but the display of infringing material must also be deemed as an issue.

I find this extremely worrying. I’m no piracy advocate but the internet is about freedom of expression. A government should not be able to throw its weight around like this just because the entertainment industry is realising it is no longer required as a middle man.
