Flash Catalyst

I’v just recently downloaded and watched some video on this new bit of kit from adobe which links the design and build process more closely. From what i can see its for people who don’t want to or are not really coders, Or who want to save themselves some time.

You can directly import your PSD or AI files and select grouped content and add functions directly to it, add transitions from page to page and all with out writing a line of code. They do say that its so as the designed can show the developer what they want to happen on page before its passed on but can this be directly exported and used because from what i’v gathered it create swf files and flex as well and literally in minutes.

Obviously this is only in a beta version but where would flash den stand in the future if files created in flash catalyst were to be submitted.

I know a bit about it but not alot

I will deffinately be looking into it at a later stage but for now am learning as3. From what I can gather it is good for mockup designs. As you said to pass onto the developer. I do not think it lets you create dynamic content that can work with xml So if you had an image gallery you made in catalyst you’d have to manually work with each thumb etc. Correct me if I’m wrong though.

FD will still have great quality files that still require quite a bit of effort and time to make even if your’ve got FC skills. Alot of buyers can be here to buy because they don’t have the time to invest into the project, do not want to learn additional software(photoshop, FC, flash, etc) or perhaps even lack the creative innovation juices that you can see in quite a few files

Cool. Bro Dub confirmed that it was okay to call him Bro Dub just yesterday. So he is a youngster. Still in diapers. Just born yesterday. Its amazing though, because he can teach you a LOT . He’s smart for a youngster.

He hasn’t approved my file yet. So I’m guessing still that he’ll be born yesterday any time soon.
