I´m not the biggest fan of iphone. But Lee has released a tutorial today where he shows how easy you can develop apps for iphone with flash cs5. I´m still excited for the new flash cs5. finally a intelligent editor!!!!

So before you can compile your little creation, you have to sign up to Apple for $99 per year, then, every time you want to test/debug, you have to sit through a lengthy compile session, then go through the whole transfer to the iphone process, before you can see a thing!

How is this meant to be good? Sounds like a very cumbersome process and surprise surprise Apple have found another way to squeeze more cash out of their loyal subjects!

Did anyone else notice that his ball application with a few lines of code, compiled to a 3.2MB file!

Sweet!

yeah the compilation time is an issue, there is no way i’d wait that long for something that simple to compile… :(

they need to do what Unity have done and allow the iPhone to control the testing on the PC rather than having to actually put it on the phone to test… :(

couldn’t see the filesize but thats awful! :(

Ob-jC here I come :P

I always hear Iphone users complaining that they can´t see flash websites….....but dude, this is flash…..flash websites must be watched at a monitor, not at a mini display!!

So I will not develop flash websites for Iphone too. Im only looking forward to the new editor, finally finally a intelligent one!!!!!! I hate to develop in the current editor.

Did he just use the following code?

ball.x += ((ball.x + tx) - ball.x) * 0.3
How is that any different from simply doing:
ball.x += tx * 0.3

You add ball.x and then decrease with that amount again? Sounds like a bit of an overkill in my opinion :)

The Iphone doesn’t run any Flash player, so that is why we can’t see flash sites in the iphone…

What CS5 will allow us to do is, after making flash files (AS3), at publishing time the end file is an Iphone app (ipa) not a swf… that work only on the iphone.

I don’t think all files are suitable for the small screen real-estate of the Iphone.

So having in mind from the beginning of the design that the end product is an Iphone App will make a better product.

And making flash apps with CS5 is currently more familiar to us Flash Developers than Objective-C…
