The Forum Search results list would really be more useful if each result could include the title of the thread (and perhaps the name of the forum) in which it appears, instead of displaying the words “Forum Message” in bold (which is completely superfluous if you are searching the forums.)

I often search for a forum thread by using a less common keyword I remember being mentioned in one of the replies (not necessarily a reply I want to read, but one that would far more efficiently point out the thread being sought if it included that thread title.)

I also have the same difficulty. I try to catch up an old post sometimes, I put the title of it on the search field and it appears like 30 pages, I don’t want to search 30 pages for it so I simply give up, this is definetly a thing to improve on the forum.

The thing I hate the most about forums is when you quote someone, their username doesnt show, so if you pull out some of the text from someones answer, it may very well not be recognised any more, who you are actually quoting.

Yes, Forum Search should be better.

If possible please improve this little thing on the site: In the “Start Searching…” input box there is a “Forums” item with a checkbox. If I want to search the forum I mostly go to this input box. I click on the “Forums” checkbox. And here is the “problem”. After the click the “All categories” checkbox should be unchecked. In my opinion if a visitor want to search the forum, he/she doesn’t want to search also in the products in the same time.

What do you think?

The checkbox for where you want to search should intelligently default to “Forums” (with “Categories” unchecked) if you start a search from any forums page. Or better yet, make “Forum Search” a completely separate search function in which more appropriate search logic can be applied. I would especially like to see a function to filter forum searches on the name of the poster. But having the thread title (and forum name) displayed in the results list instead of “Forum Message” remains my priority
