TriWorks

FXWV3 Modules

Congratulations on your success Triworks! I am asking for an AS3 version of Full XML Website V3.

Don’t pay too much attention to the few malcontents who criticize your posts. The buyers appreciate your quality of work and appreciate being informed via the forum.

A few of the authors who want to rain on your parade have become a little too full of themselves. They actually think the whole forum belongs to them.

Believe me, they don’t speak for buyers looking for great files.

And don’t let them use “Forum Rules” as their lame excuse.

Any rule that would prohibit helping customers find superior work would also prohibit the junk they clutter the forum with daily. [see below]

Hi Bringhurst,

Glad to see that you are still around. I am a little confused by this post, but I will look into the matter of your previous post being deleted.

I don’t think anyone thinks the forums belong to them. I think they believe that you need to make a choice. Either a) turn the forums into a useless wasteland where the authors of all 5k files are constantly bumping threads and any actual content gets burried within seconds or b) make a rule and stick to it.

I think for the most part they believe a) is the wrong choice, to the point where they’ve restrained themeselves from ever using the forums for advertising (except for situations where buyers asked for specific functionality which was present in one of their files).

If you think the ‘forum rules’ are a lame excuse, are you willing to accept the consequences of said rules being removed. (namely, a forum jam packed with spam)?

Just to add to that. I don’t want to diminish the opinion of anyone’s file, but I can think of dozens (if not hundreds) of files that could maintain a thread ad-infinium by starting a ‘feature-request thread’.

I mean, you’re essentially giving people the opportunity to have a custom file built for them at the price of a stock file. It’s pretty obvious that almost any author can start a thread like this and have it constantly bumped.

Tri said – That’s right. We thought of creating about 10 different tiled backgrounds. Actually we have some others in stock here in our server ready to upload but, FD says that the files are the same because the code is the same. At Triworks we think that creating a new theme even with the same code is acceptable because most of these kind of requests come from buyers. Unfortunately we can’t send more than 3 versions of the same file.

Simple solution then – make one background file that has the ability to change multiple colors. Remove one of the two files that is not selling well and simply add it to the master file and repost.

This kind of product prohibition is a really ridiculous notion from the Den masters. Its counter productive and leaves a bad taste in the members mouths. I really don’t by into this reasoning at all. I cannot stand excuses especially really poor excuses.

As far as background files are concerned – they need to have some meat on the bones – 6 dollars and up is a high price for a simple mod that really does not do much and offers paltry complications and hassles to use. Not a good combination.

More value – less rush to get products out in multiple versions to close together in time and products that are actual FLASH swf driven on a site called flash den. The biggest concern is poor documentation for really basic things and to many links to buy more products instead of real substance for the buyer.

There is a very simple and easy solution. Just upload all variations as a Pack and it will sell even more.

True, we could do that, but the idea was to sell exactly what a buyer wants. We don’t mind having cheaper background files as long as we have enough for all tastes. In a package you can’t choose a background from the thumbnail and most probably you’ll buy them all when you just need one. Look at the three backgrounds there http://www.flashden.net/collections/35729-fxwv3-modules . Our idea was to create a page like this for backgrounds and start organizing the modules. Unfortunately FD doesn’t share the same philosophy with us. We sent out an e-mail requesting this to happen. They gave us the same suggestion; to include everything in a package.

Packages tend to be more expensive and forces buyers to get what they want and don’t want. I think this is more a pricing issue. We think that the way it is reviewers see the files as programming solutions giving no space to theme an application. Applying the same criteria, I guess that if we send V3 out with a new theme, most probably will be refused.

BTW ; we don’t want to sell more, we want to have these templates as customizable as possible, by giving users a good way to browse all modules.
