I am an exclusive author. I have a friend in code canyon… I like him to use one of my files and convert it into active file….. as I’m have the .PSD file I like to see it working…. I’m not gonna get any commission’s or some thing from him.. I just need to see it working….and he likes to have my file too….......... as I KNOW EXCLUSIVE AUTHORS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE ITEMS FOR FREE OF CHARGE OR TO SELL THEM IN ANY OTHER SITE ….. will it be an issue for me if I would give an item to my friend….... for free of charge ?
it can’t be sold on any other site, but if you’re saying he’s going to convert it to something else and sell it on the marketplaces or something WITH YOUR PERMISSION , yes it is allowed.

Yes of course he is going to upload it in the code canyon.. he is gonna use my file as a part of his project…. Thank you any way for your quick reply…
I think your friend needs to purchase an extended license to do this.

Actually, if you read the extended license you will see that it is the same scenario. If an item is for sale on the marketplace, you cannot give it away to anyone. With an extended license, his friend has the right to build onto it and sell it in the marketplace.

Now, because of “what you think” (not even something you’re sure about) he doesn’t want to do it… Can someone else assure anchor_point_heshan that it’s legal to do this please?

Someone else (who is an elite author on the marketplace) answered me the opposite on this thread: http://codecanyon.net/forums/thread/need-some-advice-here/70544
Have you read the extended license? There’s a reason why support won’t answer licensing questions that that is because it is confusing. Read the second paragraph and tell me that doesn’t match what you and this guy are trying to do….
...You may license, sub-license, sell, resell or re-distribute the Work or offer to do any of these things (together referred to as Resale) in the following circumstances:
the Work is incorporated into a larger work you have created; or
if the Work is a template or software application, you use it alone to modify it and Resell it as an end product (that is, not as a tool, template, or stock item, and without source files); or
you use the Work alone as a Limited Re-Purposing, but only if: (A) you first obtain the permission of the author of the Work; and (
the Resale of the second work is only made on an Envato marketplace. A Limited Re-Purposing means that you use the Work alone and modify it for Re-sale as a tool, template, or stock item, or with source files.
See our KnowledgeBase for examples of these uses. Examples of Limited Re-Purposing include: A conversion of an html website template to a different format such as WordPress; a conversion of a PSD template to a website theme; converting a graphic item to a functional version of the item; or colour, font, positioning, background variations to items….

But if you want to resell it as is, you need the author’s permission.
Now the thing is isn’t it the same thing if you buy the extended license and if the author gives it to you and gives you permission to work on it?
I think that by being the author of the item, you have the right to share it with friends, but not online, not on any other websites, not even yours (That’s if you are an exclusive author) because of the Envato policies.
He didn’t use any website to give me the files.
Oh boy, I’d be glad if a staff would find this. We already contacted Envato support, nothing yet.
