Hey, people. I have a small problem…
I am trying like h*ll to set up a website using “Karma WordPress theme”, which I just bought the other day. Rather than just use it for a , for example, sitename.com/WordPress, I wish to use it for sitename.com.
I did not notice until just last evening, but there was also a site template I could have purchased, rather than the WordPress theme. I am worried that now I am stuck with it.
Basically, here is what I paid for: http://themeforest.net/item/karma-clean-and-modern-wordpress-theme/168737 And this is what I think I may have needed to get: http://themeforest.net/item/karma-clean-and-modern-website-template/234990?WT.ac=item_more_thumb&WT.seg_1=item_more_thumb&WT.z_author=TrueThemesCan someone please let me know if I can use this to build an actual site, that I can upload to a new domain, after I purchase said domain, without having it be just a WordPress section of the site? And if possible, can some also direct me to a video that shows me how to turn this into a site, rather than needing to have WordPress already installed? Lastly, if this is not possible with the theme, does anyone know if I’d be able to exchange it for the website template version? I had read that , basically, it is possible for “them” to know if a theme/template that is a single-use, is used on more than one site, this is why I ask and PRAY that I can get an exchange, other wise I am in a bit of trouble.
Can anyone please tell me where I can get a response from Truethemes? I have tried their support page, but I cannot seem to get a reply.
All I need to know is if the theme I paid for can run by itself, on the root of a site, or if it needs WP installed in order to use…
What you are experiencing is not a theme issue, so there’s no need to contact the author. If you install WordPress in /wordpress directory on your server you will have to access it like that. To access WordPress using only sitename.com you will have to reinstall WordPress and put all it’s files in your domain’s root directory. In other words, don’t place the whole ‘wordpress’ folder on your server, just it’s content.
EDIT : And yes, all WordPress themes need WordPress installed to run.
I recommend hiring a freelancer to set that up for you. Somebody who knows what they’re doing can do that within 10 mins.
You don’t need to re-install WordPress.
