Too many people visiting your site crashed the server. Probably used up all your memory.
If you’re using a scalable cloud server, I’d temporarily up your RAM on that server instance till the load eases up.

works normal here. do you have any cache plugins installed? your server can handle a lot more requests when your sites are cached static html files. there are lots of great plugins available. from my experience you can reduce the serverload by 60-90% with cached files.
