Hey guys!
As you know, we typically have a subcategory, called “Miscellaneous” within each top level category. So, for example, on ThemeForest, there’s a Site Templates -> Miscellaneous category that files can be placed in.
While we offer these generic subcats for the cases where your submission doesn’t fit one of our pre-existing options, we’d really like to encourage you to only choose “Miscellaneous” as a last option.
With that in mind, can you all take a look at your “Miscellaneous” placed items, and determine whether they can be moved to a different category instead? The benefits are huge—not to mention easier access for buyers (which is the whole point!).
And if you can’t find a suitable spot, let us know what new subcategories you’d like to see, and we’ll add them in.
Don’t ignore this. You’ll make more money if you spend a half hour working on it.

I’ve got some suggestions for some authors (for CodeCanyon, WordPress), although I’m not sure if they’re interesting:
- WordPress Profile Manager to ‘Membership’.
- Premium Pricing Tables Plugin to ‘Utilities’.
- Comment Image to ‘Feedback’/’Comments’ – new category.
- TS Thinkbox to ‘Feedback’/’Comments’ – new category.
- Automatic Envato Referral URL WP Plugin to ‘Utilities’.
- Simple Star Rating to ‘Feedback’/’Comments’ – new category.
- WP Envato to ‘Advertising’/’Media’.
- WP Update Notifier to ‘Utilities’.
- Theme By Browser For WordPress to ‘Utilities’.
More to come..

On codecanyon
javascript -> youtube
php -> youtube
My items could be moved to that categorie
In Graphicriver, from the “Miscellaneous” section of Graphics category:
- "404 Error Page Design" to: Web Elements >> 404 Pages
- "web elements – icons/tab/navigation bars/text" to: Web Elements >> Miscellaneous
- "4 promoting colored blocks for web and presentatio" to: Web Elements >> Miscellaneous
- "Web Concrete Shelves + Awning and Web Elements" to: Web Elements >> Miscellaneous
- "Web 2.0 Styles Pricing Tables" to: Web Elements >> Tables
My Items that need to be moved on Code Canyon:
- “Automatic Envato Referral URL Wordpress Plugin” move to: Plugins » WordPress » Advertising
- “WP Envato” move to: Plugins » WordPress » Advertising
- “ CSS3 Bubbles” move to: New CSS category called Elements
Hope this helps Jeffrey
I was browsing through the categories on the markets and I see A LOT of empty categories. Okay they are there because someday somebody will upload something there but until then they could be hidden because they make the page longer, and important main categories getting pushed down. Having to scroll through countless of empty subcats is not too good. Maybe there could a be little switch that hides non-link subcats? Just an idea.
In my opinion ThemeForest categories list needs to be rearranged in some way (5 columns instead of 4, or something else). “CMS Themes” is longest list, about 5 screens (press PgDown few times), and in that categories is just 107 items for sale. After a lot of scrolling with your mouse wheel, on the bottom of page sitting PSD Themes, Marketing, Forums categories with more than 500 items.
In one moment of scrolling you can see list of empty links centered on page. This is an illustration of what I mean.

That’s what I’m talking about. It’s not that bad on every marketplace but some have stuff like this :/
