Help with new graphics card

Ok so I dunno if anyones gonna be able to help me out on this one, but meh..I need this prob fixed.

Basically I just bought a new graphics card, the nVidia GeForce 7950GX2. It’s 1gb, dual core…damn powerfull hehe.

Anyway, it says on the nVidia website that my motherboard IS compatible with this card (I did check before purchasing it).

It also says I need BIOS version 1103 for my motherboard. Turns out I have version 0305 installed, so I need to update.

No problem I say to myself, i’l just download the drivers and update…right?

Well, it dosen’t freaking work! I just get a BIOS ROMID error every time I try and flash it…i’v tried everything, making a bootable floppy and it sill won’t flash. FFS !

Anyone know anything about BIOS , can anyone help?

Hey Butters, I’m not an expert with BIOS but I did have my shares of problems with Graphic Card (I have a GeForce 7800GT)! From my experience BIOS is something that you should never touch unless you 100% know what you are doing cause it always screws up your systems (specially if you already have Windows installed). In the pass when I have problem with my Card I search for the latest Driver from the card company and 9 out 10 times it works for me. Hope it works for you too!

Yeah I know what i’m doing, I know that if the flashing of your BIOS gets stopped somehow (like if your PC gets turned off or rebooted) then your motherboard becomes completely useless.

However, my board has a special feature so that you can actually recover if it gets screwed.

Anyway, haven’t had any luck so I just ordered a new BIOS chip, should fix everything.

Wow Butters u sound like an expert in computers! did I hear u saying u r going to order a NEW BIOS chip??! I didn’t even know u can do that LOL

Yeah man, www.recoverybios.com – some Italian company sells BIOS chips and you can even send yours to them and they will fix it for ya hehe.

Some motheboards have a removable chip, luckily mine is one, you can just pull it out and chuck a new one in. Yay!

Got it all working, the new BIOS chip works like a charm!
