Looks nice and useful.

Is it somehow connected with Envato marketplace, ask from users to put licence number of purchased item?

EDIT : Seems not… :)

Yes osTicket is great, and the upcoming release should bring life back to the two year old version.

Please also be sure to check out the other ticket support systems available right here on the marketplace: http://codecanyon.net/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&term=ticket+support

the source is open, and the buyer is free to make changes to the code. this means it is open source. open source does not mean “free” as in $, just free as in freedom, a very common misunderstanding and one I was (rather rudely) made aware of at a conference recently.

In production and development, open source is a philosophy, or pragmatic methodology that promotes free redistribution and access to an end product’s design and implementation details

Not sure whoever told you that was right because I don’t think you can freely redistribute items from CodeCanyon.

dtbaker is right. The first sentence in the wikipedia article you quoted says:

This article is about the production and development model. For its application to software, see Open-source software…

If you look at the article for “open source software” it says:

Open-source software (OSS) is computer software that is available in source code form: the source code and certain other rights normally reserved for copyright holders are provided under an open-source license that permits users to study, change, improve and at times also to distribute the software.

Notice that it says “and at times distribute the software”, which means that distribution rights, free or otherwise, are not required…
