We get quite a fair few support requets (and comments / reviews on items) saying that they could not open the ZIP /RAR file on a purchased item.

We’re going to start recommending people try WinAce when they cannot open a file, as we cannot support every ZIP client available, and WinAce opens pretty much everything without fail.

You can go to WinAce’s website click on ‘Download Centre’ and download the program.

We’ll probably be putting this on the sidebar of the downloads page :)

I use WinRar. It’s available in English and Dutch. You can use it for Windows, Mac, Linux, OS2 /Dos and FreeBSD.

I want to recommend this program.:)

I must insist on WinAce! From their website:

  • compression of the following formats: ACE , ZIP, LHA , MS-CAB, JAVA JAR
  • decompression of: ACE , ZIP, LHA , MS-CAB, RAR , ARC, ARJ , GZip, TAR , ZOO, JAR
  • Integrity check for ACE , ZIP, LHA , MS-CAB, RAR , ARC, ARJ , GZip, TAR , ZOO, JAR
  • Repair functionality for ACE and ZIP archive

That’s why we’re recommending WinAce.

For Mac? I don’t know. We haven’t had many problems from Mac users that were fasle positives (i.e. when a Mac user reported a problem, there really was a problem with the ZIP file, or it was a RAR file with a ZIP extention).

I use whatever it comes with, which I have no idea what it is. :)

ryan, I see you are the only flashden member answering these days. I assume the rest of the team must be very busy, cyan for example. :)

I was wondering if you guys received my messages with the money transaction and the moneybookers email thing.

It seems to me the problem doesnt lie in the unzip program. If I download a file (also to approve) It doesnt work even if it isnt a zip but a .fla I almost always have to download it once and then download it again and overwright it for the file to work.
