(Locked) Is flash dying?

apparently in my previous post, I made a BIG typing error .. the first line should be:

Neither Flash is dying nor its on its way out.

Uhm, no. Flash is the most popular plugin of all time. It’s more of a web standard than the English language. This “Is Flash dying” rhetoric is only propagated by Apple fanboys, who instead of admitting their devices have a flaw, would rather just try to make Flash itself the problem.

Every single person I have seen complaining about Flash hasn’t even looked at it since the early 2000s. You are out of date. You are not relevant to the discussion. Unless you can bring forth valid arguments against the current Flash player and Actionscript 3, your thoughts are irrelevant.

All that said, Flash developers are the first ones to cringe at the misuse of Flash. Using Flash just to embed the font you want – not a good idea. When used properly, however, there is nothing out there on the web that can match the presentation and user experience.

Oh, yeah, and just another note that has been bothering me – the entire Envato marketplace was built on Flash, so you new players should show a little respect, because you wouldn’t even be here if it weren’t for guys like DigitalSciance. Can ya dig?

Sorry Arik but Flash has all the rights to be in the iPad discussion. When you claim to be providing the ultimate internet experience while ignoring one of the biggest player in the internet game, you’re bound to get people asking

Is there something which could ever replace flash? It’s everywhere.

Dying? Active Den is not a measure for flash popularity or the use of it on the global.

There is no real alternative on the web for something like flash.

The only thing is that flash getting more complex on each version so you can join the ride now before things will get much more complex or you can left behind and stick with the static web world .

Though I prefer javascript/jquery there are things which only flash can do and although there are new RIA technologies like silverlight and JavaFX, flash has an advantage wrt to tools and developers. Still these technologies aren’t mature enough to create whole sites, I have tried it … Flash is going to be here long enough ,market share may decrease due to competition but it has a bright future .

I think to be fair (I am biased being a Microsoft .NET architect) you could say Silverlight is a suitable alternative.

Now I am not an idiot and realize it hasn’t (or ever will) reach the popularity of Flash, but it has gained a good popularity and is cross-platform, so it is a viable alternative…in theory.

Lol. I have no idea but I HIGHLY doubt it. If Jobs didn’t support Flash, he sure as heck doesn’t support Silverlight.
