I think it’s used for tracking purposes
but the reference link goes at the end as usual?

Actually I noticed that these links appear if you click on an item that is on the homepage: Featured, New Items or Free File. However if you access the item from the author profile it will have the normal link. I’m not sure why though maybe its for tracking purposes as quickandeasy said
