Giving files away for free is definitely against the rules. I don’t know why nobody from support noticed this thread.

+1 the survey itself is cool and funny but giving away the file through comments area isn’t tolerable due to commercial nature of system.

Being a less sellable marketplace day by day, it is understandable that Envato staff can’t invest much time on these things, so it is now on the authors hand to keep ethics of business.

Friends, let’s not to be a boring perisher! There is nothing mega-bad with a couple of files that have been given for free to winners. Because the rules are created so that they could sometimes violate.

We can easily see competition of competition between authors. For example, a year back there were less number of authors adding link to free files on their profile. Now it just increased and not easy to manage or monitor. How it happens is some authors reports violations to support and some just follows the practice as if best practice. My 2 minutes!

VF, its my low english, I do not completely understand, have I offended someone with my competition idea about one my file? I report violations when I see somebody pirated my files. When I decide to make a survey its not a pirate. I don’t see here is a problem. I do not too long here, and yes, sales are become lower, but what prevents me from making more good files and use promotional tricks for their? It was interesting to hear somebody from staff.

I forget to add: competition between authors is always. Why then badges, top rankings of authors and other insignia (dont sure google translate well)

I pointed about another issue as example; that is authors themselves giving away their files through profile page. Here and there we are able to see some authors linking their free files on profile pages. When famous authors starts something, others follow it even without reason. May be that doesn’t hurts too much of sales of other authors but still how can we confirm.

The same applies your case, if new authors see your competition and finds it is better marketing strategy, then the marketplace will not have same level of fairness when we joined here.

No doubt you are making good files, good thing for the community but still promoting it within predefined rules (of Envato) makes sure fair competition among authors. hmm, time flies faster on the forum!

Think I begin to understand these complex relationships. Well, I had thought about illegality of my actions, but I still do not think that this competition has damaged sales of other authors or young authors will follow this or something else sacred here. Still don’t understand why I have not banned, in fact, except for promotional attempt, I was realy very pleased to receive these individual responces from peoples, and from you, VF! Is this any rools mean something with comparise? And you have such rights to competition with anybody. Still keep thinking that I was not offended any of the authors.
