I need some help to come up with a logo for me.

I am trying to make a logo but i am more a programmer then a designer and i have some difficulties to get a good idea for a logo.

My full name is michel van der steege and it is a logo for myself / flash work / portfolio.

How do you guys get ideas for a logo? and if someone have a great idea please give me some tips!

O and i don’t mind if it is just a text symbol or a complete logo with image symbol.

Thanks a lot already!

im the same as that, I can see what works and what wont but getting there I find tricky being more of a programmer than a designer, really envy you guys that can illustrate and program ..

for mine I played around with different backgrounds and stuff and then eventually found one I really liked and tried different fonts/graphics, none of which I drew though…

Cant remember how I ended up with an eye in my avatar lol

A really neat font could be an idea. Look at versace, gucci or armani. They don’t have logos, but their letter design is great. You could write your name and wether search for a nice font, or build the letters yourself. Also, initials are a good idea as well, with a wicked letter design :D. If you want a shape or something, avoid cliches (avoid the first things that come to your mind, and dig deeper). I’m not an expert in design, but that’s my idea :D.

A good way to start would be to first think of what you want to say about yourself then try working it into the logo. A while back i tried setting up a small website business with a friend, our idea was to focus on the ability to design functional as well as great looking sites so we decided to call it paintandnails.com – Paint being design and the visuals, and Nails being the code which holds things together – of course we never got around to it, but the domain is still registered :)
