If you don’t want to have a lot of problems, you should consider buying a Mac. PC sucks in all ways. It isn’t a computer for a comfort work. You should have a lot of free time and some technical knowledge to make it work well. With a PC you’ll get a lot of questions like – What driver should I install to make my game\program works? or What antivirus should I choose? or Why my Photoshop\game\other program took a long time to load? or What should I do? I lost all my data… etc.
Get a Mac. Save some money and buy a MacBook Pro (if you want a notebook). You won’t be disappointed.
Then you’ll be able to use a powerful computer that works under awesome user-friendly Mac OS (whose usability CAN ’T be compared to any of Windows OS). You won’t be asking yourself why this program\game doesn’t work… or how to restore all lost data… Also with a Mac you don’t have to worry about drivers, anti-viruses etc.
I too spent some of years working on a PC. But after I’ve tried to work on a Mac, I decided that I would never go back to a PC.
And I don’t understand why everyone so obsessed with hardware at first place… Yes, you can buy a PC with a kick-ass hardware for the same money. But the truth is that the OS is more important than hardware. Hardware has no meaning if system doesn’t work right with it…
So… once again, get a Mac. You won’t be disappointed.

uh because better hardware = speed = more productivity…
Buying something from Apple is fine, my MBP works great and is reasonably quick but my PC is twice as good in every hardware department and cost LESS .
Every single program runs FAR faster and appears much more responsive on my PC because of the hardware…
Also, with Windows 7 its sorted all the drivers etc for me so your arguement there doesn’t hold either…
I wonder if most mac users have used a pc recently, none of the “problems” they always go on about have effected me since windows XP.
If you want a pretty case get a mac, if you want the best hardware for your money get a pc.

You are saying like ” it doesnt matter if you buy a Enzo or a VW golf all that matter is high octane petrol”
if it would have been a difference of 1gb ram or a lil bit good processor then it wouldn’t have matter that much
but you can make your PC twice as faster as MAC at same price….

2 months ago i got a Vaio 17’ (core i5 + 6GB-RAM + 1TB-disk) + W7 for more than half less than a mac pro 17 (i paid 1.000€). I can assure i don’t miss anything about Mac or OS and i’m saving the other 1.400€ to buy this (hope in a couple of months more).

One thing is clear.. if you lack of creativity, you can bet on a mac to bump it back. In no time you will make brand new graphic designs just by copying the OSX interface. All your files will have osx buttons, effects, shadows, glows… every thing! You can even crop the screen in the apple hardware photos, put your content in there and, BOOM , it’s already looking better!

Get whatever you can afford. They are both good and will work fine. I’ve had both, both have their own problems. One doesn’t have more problems then the other. WinXP and Win7 are both stable operating operating systems.
I’ve never ran anti virus or adaware apps on any of my machines and have never had problems. I also have a keen eye on certain sites so I can just tell if something is fishy.

Everyone I know who had Vaio’s got a headache after a while. Apparently they are unreliable, I hope you have better luck.
@Chuck I’m done with it. I’ve used win hardware for 10 years, I need a break from all the bs for now. I’ll be willing to consider a windows based machine when this thing becomes outdated or dies. I’ll buy whatever I seem fit for my own needs.
For now this machine is best fit for my needs. My nerdy university comp sci friends like macs because of their unix bg and a slew of other geeky features which I have no knowledge of.
Anyway like I said, buy what’s best for your purpose.
