I have this template:

The thing that I’m having trouble with is the part where I need to replace the PlaceHolder images with my own.
The placeholder images are huge, 1900×1080 or something and coming up with an example of my work is much easier with an image thats a lot smaller. Maybe around 700×400 or smaller.
Is there an easy way to load the template into After Effects and reduce the overall size of everything?

No need for that, just resize your image to fit that placeholder, that placeholder is scaled later, anyway. As I can see in preview, it’s scaled down to 1/4 of it’s size.
