I think this war began Felt with his Black Gloss Logo C4D project ;)

Haha +1!

Unfortunately, I lack extruding 3D in After Effects. I always extrude my work for animation in C4D :) If anyone has/knows a good video tutorial for extruding text/shapes well using AE, please let me know! (Something that deals with bevels, gloss, satin, etc, not just simple Shatter)

Hehe! Yes… a small, largely unnoticed event that took place 14 days before Motion’s official declaration of war. :)

As a long time lurker i find it fascinating how these things occur from time to time.. If you’ve been here for a while you know these events take place on a regular basis and slowly but surely it is becoming a trend. I think it’s a natural thing really.. you can find this behavior in almost any other business environment. When someone hits the jackpot with a service/product, many others will try to replicate or re-innovate the concept. Getting a bit over-philosophical though.. Just blame Ben ! :D

in real life this usually happens in the form of Aftermarket items from China that costs friction of the original price and balance on the edge or copyright violation. I’ve moved into DSLR world lately and experience this a lot when it comes to Canon batteries, battery grips, chargers etc. The difference is – Canon don’t have much control over the China products, but VideoHive can control these “trend copyists” and that’s what happens now. Which is good.

Word !

:) I think there will be many more projects that use extrusion. The one’s we are discussin are logo’s on a wall/floor. And to be fair I think it all started with Andrew Kramer’s Soft Shadows 3Dmax & Ancient Titles tutorial where he showed us how to do realistic 3D effect in AE.. That Kramer :P

There are some amazing files in this trend with well deserved sales. Copycats should know that the best way to replicate those sales is creating a new trend instead of releasing follow ups..

(By the way you all know this extrusion logo trend in fact derives from my old Onyx Logo :P )

Any guesses on what new trend will storm videohive in the upcoming months? Actually, if you do have a good idea about it, maybe you shouldn’t post it. ;)
