Online copyright protection with Myows

Hey everyone, I just reviewed a pretty neat, new service called Myows to help creatives (like all of you) to manage copyrights for your works. I’m not trying to advertise the service here but I did feel many of you would find the service (and possibly the review) quite useful.

I’d also like to get your input on your methods of copyright protection and fighting infringement cases.

I don’t think that is much use here as Envato look after the copyright and stuff but for personal projects it seems good

I skimmed through the article. As matu said it’s great for personal projects, but I am not sure whether or not this would infringe with the custom licensing rules we have on the marketplaces.

You’re not allowed to add your own licensing.

I believe you would use the license from the marketplaces instead of creating your own.

Also, authors are liable for infringements they’re accused of and must prove to Envato that they haven’t infringed on someone else’s work (if accused). Being able to provide time-stamped verification as you create things (before uploading) could be beneficial in proving an author’s innocence and could make Envato’s legal staff’s job a little easier.

In addition to that, many authors feel the need to be a little more proactive about copyright infringement(s) on their own works. You can submit infringing sites to Envato but it’s also helpful if authors can send a cease and desist themselves to infringers and/or web hosts with a service like Myows backing them up (in terms of verification of original work registration).

Nice site there. Tried it out and will be using it. Never had a problem but it doesn’t hurt to be proactive.
