@Trev
Thanks for that, but we’re not photographers
We get banding when creating digital work.
oooooooooooops’ sorry guys (-: thought I joined a photographers forum, guess we do have similar problems though…...perhaps we photographers should re-invent film and you guys go back to drawing boards and scalpels…......on the other hand the digital world is still in it’s infancy, some bright spark will get us all passed these teething prob’s…......hopefully!
Best Regards Trev

Hey… This is not a photographers’ forum but there is no need to go. This is the forum from a marketplace full with graphics. photoshop actions for photography and stuff you might want to look at.
This is the forum from Graphicriver.net and you can find stuff like actions for the enhancing of photographs: http://graphicriver.net/category/add-ons/photoshop/actions
Please stay, we discuss all sorts of stuff. For instance, I need a camera.

Banding is usually a problem of creating a large gradient and doing large color transitions in your gradient. The closer the colors are in the color wheel the less of a problem it will be.
From my experience, it’s often the opposite: closer colors often result in banding, especially if the gradients are dark grayish gradients spread over a relatively large area. This makes sense since there are relatively fewer colors for a given amount of space for there to be a very smooth transition, compared to gradients comprised of more diverse colors.
I’ve seen various recommendations on fixing it, including applying Gaussian Blur, adding monochromatic noise, using dithering (which I’ve already tried but this doesn’t seem to help much), and increasing the number of bits per color channel. I’ve also seen some recommendations to try re-calibrating the display, but this doesn’t ultimately fix the issue.
Oh, I’m not alone :’)
