Hi guys,
Many of you may have noticed an issue with Preview Image Sets recently. When authors upload Preview Image Sets for their file, the Envato watermark is not automatically applied to the JPG images as it should. We’ve been allowing authors to add their own watermarks, but I realize that even brief lapses like this has the potential to expose author work to malicious users who may attempt to download an unwatermarked image. A long-term correction for this issue is being built, but it may not be available for release for a few weeks. Since protecting the work of our authors is my top priority, I’ve asked the development team to please hide/disable Preview Image Sets until the fix is ready.
I’ll be honest, we owe the author community an apology for this one. I would never in good faith ask the authors to submit previews unwatermarked, and the fact that Preview Image Sets got launched without them was an error we didn’t realize until after the fact. I was very excited for the new feature, but I want to do this right—that’s why we’re pulling the feature until it can be fixed.
Preview Image Sets will be disabled in the next scheduled roll-out on Monday. Please note that if you have an existing Preview Image Set, it will still be attached to your file and when we re-launch the feature, your Preview Image Sets will be there with full watermarks. You will also still be able to add new Preview Image Sets to an item—they just won’t appear on the file page for the time being. Once the fixes are in place, we’ll flip the switch back on and have the great feature we’d planned!
As always, thanks for your understanding and support. If you have any questions, I’ll be glad to answer them below!
Thanks for the information Amanda. I look forward to seeing this feature fully and successfully implemented in GraphicRiver, as it is with the Presentation Category.
I hope that this feature is re-implemented soon, as I have a few files I was counting on having this feature for.
Thanks!
Thomas

lol I’m glad I didn’t put more preview images for the items I’ve already uploaded. Thnx so much for the info Amanda. I was literally afraid if you had to disable them in existing items, but the envato staff is really awesome. Thnx once again for the info.
I am fed up!
My item is in the queue and it is the 10th day. I added my own watermark yet…

Which item and what do you mean by “your own watermark”?

I think he means he has added more preview images and has put his own watermark on it so you guys don’t need to. Just a guess.

The item is Notification Boxes Pack and by my own watermark, I mean just a pattern
. Anyways, the file was soft rejected again because I had not named the images in the preview set correctly and then I re-uploaded the preview set. Let me see what happens

Sorry you’ve been frusterated with Preview Sets, Haziq. On the up side, when we turn the feature back on, your items will have great new preview options after all the work you’ve done! If you have any issues you’d like to discuss with me, feel free to drop a note to Support and I’ll be glad to talk.

Well, frankly a watermarked preview has a low efficiency in keeping someone from not using the preview content. Most of the times, excluding complex images, watermarks can be removed with minor to moderate effort, and thus the image behind the watermark reconstructed. Getting the watermark more complex would result of course in the obstruction of the image.
Good thing we have a decent community here
