Hi,
I’ve been using Photoshop since quite some years. Recently I’ve been testing Pixelmator, have been testing it since a few weeks now.
Now while I find both very good and useful I was wondering what’s the big difference between them? What is the biggest reason why I should buy Pixelmator and the same thing for Photoshop.
I know the first logic reason would be pricing. But what about the rest?
Just want to hear your thoughts

I’ve tried Pixelmator as well, very good, but the lack of some important tools was a deal breaker. Don’t remember what tools were missing (it was a year ago), but I believe their devs have a blog or something and they are trying to build things up obviously. So I might give it a try again in the future.
I did not try Pixelmator, I just saw some tutorials using it, and there are some cool features that you can use to complement your work in Photoshop. There are some effects in Pixelmator that are not possible, or that take some time to achieve in Photoshop.
I think one can’t replace Photoshop with Pixelmator, but it’s a very good tool in a designer’s toolbox.
Pixelmator is great, but it still misses a few important things, which is a holdback for me. I believe we could see what we need in version 2. I do support the Pixelmator team, they are doing outstanding job.

Pixelmator is a very fast and lightweight tool. The guys at the team listen to the community and release update to make the product complete. I hope in the future the product will develop more; and at that time it may become a must in our toolbox
.
Sounds like a very powerful tool, but I’m so used to Photoshop that I’ll probably keep using it.
I have pixelmator on my Mac and I’m shopping for some flyers in graphicriver that comes with psd files. Well my concern is whether those psd files will open nicely in pixelmator?
Feedbacks would be much appreciated! And oh I want a sleek and clean flyer or tri-fold to promote a service.
Giving it a go right now. I love how lightweight it is. Everything is super snappy but how’s the compatibility with PSD ’s in and out?

I would love to know that as well.
