Also on submit item page I added this mention : ‘If this is a GraphicRiver link we will add our refferal’ .I’m not stealing and I’m not looking to still from anyone.

The bad thing isn’t that they’re using their own referrals, the bad thing is that the site launched as a place for us to upload our designs and keep our referrals – so, once we have spent our time making the graphics for their site, uploading, filling out the descriptions and linking back to our items – as well as linking to PSD Bucket profiles (which results in them rising in the search ranks) it then changes to their own affiliate links. So, we’ve basically filled up a site for them under the illusion we get the referrals in exchange for our time, then they take it all back.
I suppose the nice amount of advertising revenue they’ll be getting is not enough
Now, it’s worth noting this has only happened after it changed ownership, as it was an Envato Author who originally set it up, so no backlash against him
Still, hopefully it drives a decent amount of sales so that time wasn’t waste for the authors who are now losing their referrals.
We are not getting a ‘nice amount of revenue’ , If you are really interested I can email you our carbonads revenues and our hosting costs + banners + articles, links .Do you think that 60$/month is nice amount of revenue when just VPS costs 50$/month ?! People who enter on our website just go and click on download/visit button, does not click on ads and does not came again, because they searched on google, so our main source of income are graphicriver refferal links.
Previous owner was able to keep designers ref links because he didn’t invested in promotion, right now website has 10x more traffic compared to traffic from 6 months ago ( when this was owned by Oliviu ) .
When i created PSd Bucket i intended to be a tool for our community portfolio showcase. I dont want to talk on public forums about my projects. For me it was something I wanted to give back to the community. I think Maldini do its best to heep PB up and running. You want something better involve in that project. Its your website as well.

@maldinii, I’m not saying you’re doing a bad thing by trying to make money from a site – credit to you for keeping on driving sales for this community, it’s a great thing you’re putting the time and effort into running a site which has the single function of driving traffic to our items.
My point is more so that only after we’d uploaded everything thinking ‘this is a great way to invest our time and effort’, the links then change.
Maybe it would’ve been better to announce this and apply the ref link changes to new submissions, rather than all the back catalogue and without letting anyone know your policy changed?
As many of you know, I run a website that promotes items & I keep all the referral links – but it’s me spending the time to fill the site with content, not the Author (so please don’t think I’m being a hypocrite).
If we’d of all known this from the start, I still think everyone would’ve uploaded content, another place to promote is another place to promote at the end of the day. I think it’s just the principle of changing the back catalogue with no prior notification is what has upset people a little.
Anyway, as I said, hats off to you for keeping the site going by whatever means you find necessary.

I understand what are you saying and you are right, but as I said I can’t add reff links just to new posts because there is a lot of traffic to old posts, I can use rel canonical to change traffic direction from google, but you will prefer to have posts with very low number of visits and reff links or posts that drive sales and no refferals? I can’t change the past, as I can say I can offer some advantages to old users ( they already have advantages because old posts get more google traffic), like 2 rotating banners on homepage pointing to their website.
Also I agree with you that it wasn’t a good idea to not announce users regarding refferal change, I received some questions by email about this and I tought is enough to respond to those and give details about this decisions.
I’m trying to do my best here not to steal someone work, I do mistakes, we all do , and I’m interested to help every user of psdbucket who need advices/promotion ( I have done this on our twitter account ) , but as Oliviu said , you (designers) should also help this community, by twitting items, give feedback, advices, help, link from personal websites ( in this way I will not spend money on links/tweets/banners and I will be able to offer more to the community) .We are selling items worth more than $10k until now for our 1000+ designers but none of them created a social icon for psdbucket for example
, you need to understand that I have done this not to be rich, I have done this to cover expenses and have money to invest and grow.
Thanks for understanding!
I think psdbucket is fair in how it functions. Maldinii, I get the bit about using your own referrals and not the authors which is understandable. Maybe have an option so that authors can pay a monthly subscription like $4 or $5 dollars a month to have all their portfolio with own referrals. Or have a maximum limit on how many projects an author can upload with their referrals and if they upload more then you use your own referral. I don’t want to complain because I do have some good referrals from psdbucket. Maldinii, keep up the work and keep improving your site – your doing a good job!

We are working on this, to have a membership system and for 19$/year users should have their own refferals, post with links to their blogs, 1 sponsored tweet per month and a badge to their items/profile .
What do you think about our analytics function ? We worked hard for it and we didn’t received any update.
Thanks!

How come you want to unsubscribe and not have your items on psdbucket? Is it because of the referral issue?
Hi Carlos,
I can delete your account, but to remove your work takes time, because I need to manually edit each post , change image with other graphicriver image from other author and drive traffic to other work.
So please send me an email and a reminder if things are not ok for you .
Thanks!
