Resources For Buyers..Guides Tools, help exc....

Hello all, I have spent several hundred dollars at the den the last few months and must say I have a heck of a time getting all the different components to load into one swf file. Everything works great as downloaded but what is next. Almost every as3 file I have bought and tried to load into another flash file has given me errors upon publishing. several files have html code that is required for the file. Well what if I have another file that has html needs. how do I put the two together exc. It would be nice to have basic instructions or tutorials for how to combine several files. Maybe common errors that happen alot could be discussed. It seems alot of people use these files in combination. I am just really frustrated at how hard it is to use some files outside of there original fla.

I would like to suggest some resources on the site for buyers.

Another tutorial subject would be good is about xml. There are so many xml files but how could we teach people to generate xml faster than hand typing it. I would love to see a tutorial teach how to use photoshops batch photogallery xml creator to generate xml for a flashden xml gallery..

Also I think on the bookmarks and download page for purchases should have a AS3 or AS2 tag.

I dont know I do flash all day and night and still have trouble working putting things together and there are not a lot of resources out there that teach this..

I think these features would help the whole stock flash industry and save authors a ton of time anserwing questions.. or have a search feature that singles out only files that work easily in other flash files without any modifications.

the solution is not to buy only templates and packages but to learn how to make 10 swf’s work in 1 only… a tutorial or a FAQ section could be nice for buyers having this problem

Hey uncharted – don’t mean to sound unsympathetic, because heaven knows I’ve been in your situation… I’ve spent week running the rat maze that is someone else’s code… It is a choose your own adventure that has a picture of you in the dragon’s belly on every page. It is all part of the learning process and as you’ve learned already, every one has their own coding philosophy and vocabulary.

You just have to do what you are doing… You have to pound your keyboard and get frustrated. You are looking and learning from some very competent designers and developers here and sooner than later you are going to come out on that page with the treasure. You just have to spend your time in the trenches.

And yes, it is one of the most frustrating feelings ever. One day with zero productivity is not the worst return on your investment, you are after all, learning. I’ve always found that leaving the computer for a walk was the quickest way to solve coding issues… i dunno, somehow it usually came to me as soon as i set foot out of the office. Hang in there!!!

I just had a great idea after reading sjiumah’s post.

How about a template file that has a header and a footer. but it is verticle scrolling and it allows about 5 to 10 swf embeds on each page. I think that is the problem I am having. Most of the templates on flashden only have one module on the stage at a time. It would be nice to see more templates that have more modules on the stage at one time. like a video player and a photo gallery, and a banner rotator and a news feed reader. That is what I am trying to accomplish at this point. It seems that would be a top seller. Sites that dont look like flash because they are verticle and busy like major portal websites. That is what I am looking for. I think it would be very good for retaining a viewer on the site to right off the bat show them all the great stuff they can do on the website right from the front page. Then as you click on the navigation some modules may stay and and new ones could show up.

I know what you mean about that taking a walk thing. I usually pace around the house. It eventually comes to me or I move on to another method.

usually move on to another method for me means buy another file. I probably should start walking as trying to make money off design has ruled my life and made me a fat man. i remember when I used to go outside and skate and breakdance and snowboard. now its all problem solving error messages chasing money.
