Well I don’t feel so bad for them as they knew before they don’t have the proper license to use it

Yes some users want to be credited and for some you even have to write a permission request and wait a lot..
90% are “standard CC” so no need to link back. I used sxc since a long time when I was a moderator of Photoshop contests, I used to know many more.
