Site Templates and Pricing

Everyone,

It’s come to my attention that many of you feel that your themes should be priced at $20 and $25. While that may or may not be true…we’re going to keep prices at $10 – $15 for the time being.

You’re more than welcome to “suggest” a price when you submit your theme, but I can promise you that we won’t go over $15. If you’re not willing to sell at that price, you might be better off considering other options.

Keep in mind that a great deal of thought went into the pricing for these themes. Simply charging more doesn’t necessarily equal more profit. We’ve determined that $10 – $15 for site templates is the target selling point.

The only way that we’ll list a template at $20 is if it’s simply spectacular. We currently only have one theme on the site at $20 – and truthfully, it should have been priced at $15 (even though it’s a fantastic theme). That was an error on our part.

You’ve still got a handful of other themes above $20, some up to $40.

Jeffrey was referring to the HTML Templates only. The CMS templates have pricing options that go beyond the $15 price range.

I’m speaking about static site templates only.

Wordpress themes are priced higher for obvious reasons.

Well you said the word “theme” so I thought you just meant everything. Maybe we should come up with more standard wording. To me, “theme” is only a layout for an existing infrastructure (CMS). A plain HTML template shouldn’t be called a theme and vice verse.
