Please don’t get me wrong, but I believe that doing it openly at the forum, would only end up triggering a witch hunt and I could never agree with that. Today, I’ve seen some stuff going on in the threads regarding this issue of “what’s good/what sucks” and I didn’t liked it. To be honest, I found it very unethical.
I’ll leave this thread to it’s purposes then. Please, email me! I’d be pleased to share.
Nah.. I wouldn’t bother anyone with my opinions in their mail box. In this case of low grade items, it’s not unethical because no-one is pointing to a particular item or an author. No-one’s being harmed and no-one’s reputation is going down. Think about this, if those who knew that there item was quite low grade wouldn’t even submit it in here in the first place. Ethics is subject to nature. Some prone to discuss problems freely while some just keep it in the deep. Never mind though, each to their own. Cheers.
I agree with you guys, please don’t get me wrong, but maybe, just maybe, if we focus on our own items and how we can make them better instead of pointing out someone else’s item, eventually the collective standard will rise and we will not have to worry about it anymore.
An author always knows if his item is quality material or not. I know, some don’t care, as long as the item is approved, the author is happy. Anyway, I don’t really see why an “aesthetically inferior” item bothers so many people.
Lets just be a little more patient, and trust that the reviewers know what they are doing.
Let other people’s file be their own problem, and not ours. If we truly believe we can help the author improve his file, then let’s contact him and suggest solid improvements, otherwise it becomes a gossip game, and that, I believe, is good for no one.I apologize for the honesty, but it’s just an opinion, so please don’t be offended.
I love this answer
You should consider understanding the difference between various graphic elements and also should take note about how this industry works on the web. First, there are a HELL LOT OF marketplaces in relation to vector market all across the web. They are quite successful, more successful than GR. Their quality in vectors is very high and they have a huge number of buyers. This makes us believe that there will be particularly very less one time and below average number of regular buyers of vectors at Envato. If you see closely, most of the authors who just sell vectors here are non exclusive because they know vectors do not have a big market here.
Secondly why are we discussing this thing? It’s another topic. If you want to discuss about it, you can always create new topic. But anyways, in order to answer you, illustrations and styles are two different things. They cannot be matched. Both have different purposes. Just like actions, styles, presentations, backgrounds, textures and so on have different purposes. Each have their own peculiarity and their sales stats.
Raincutter.. a few points to consider:
Yes..there are quite a few marketplaces out there that sell vectors. But are you really saying that part of the pricing structure that Evato employs is related to what competitors are doing? By that rational, there are a ton of sites, thousands in fact, that offer free actions and styles. Does the pricing of actions here reflect that fact?
Having said that, at the end of the day.. actions here, for whatever reason, sell. End of story.
I don’t think that is a good idea to judge the item by it looks (and i’m not talking about very bad designs) . I got two of my items rejected twice in a week and i give up on one of the item and still fighting on second. But my point is, that i print the item to see how it will be looking printed and showed it to couple of people at work and they all said that this is a nice design, but i still have a rejection saying that i need to work on typography. I think the buyers can change the font as they like and it shouldn’t be a reason for rejection. Every body have they’re own point of view, for one it’s garbage for another one is gold.
I think part of the problem is the quality standard does not seem to be consistent though out the site, so really good items get rejected then others get past that clearly are not as well though out or designed, but that done to different people reviewing item as the saying goes “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” means everyone finds different things appealing.
But i would say one issue that need to be tackled is item previews, i keep seeing item that don’t have great preview but the content is solid, i think in this case the item should be rejected and the preview made ad hear to certain standard. as at the moment there are some that really make the home page look less professional
I find it really annoying as it has a negative impact on all the authors of the market place
I may start a new thread dedicated to this.
