I was building a layout based on the 906 Grid System. I like the fixed (px) version but would like to go with the fluid (%) version and wrap a fix sized div around it.
The problem is that this doesn’t work on all browsers:- FF 7 : works
- IE6 – 9: works
- Chrome: sucks
- Safari: sucks
- iPad/iPhone: sucks
- Opera: sucks
To see what I mean i made a small page. Click the switch button to change to relative. It should look the same but doesn’t
Any ideas on that?
because the percentages are not as accurate as pixel dimensions.

50% of 10 pixel are 5 pixel. Accurate enough?
FF and IE respect this why not the others?
I’m on FF7 Win7 and for me the PX version is a little bigger than the % one (I guess that’s your problem). Same thing on IE9 … Have no idea why, but just thought I’d let you know.

No, this is not the problem. I’m talking about the webkit browsers which render this wrong.
I know there is no half pixel so the difference on FF is immaterial
