i did something very similar to this a few years ago for my final major at uni! not sure if its still live i’ll check! not quite as smooth as that but got a first for it! my flash was basic then but the concept i was told was good.

It explains at the bottom of the page that you have to press the flowers repeatedly to make it load faster. I suppose thats the purpose of the slow loading, to get people to interact with the website at the start.
