LandonWilson there is nothing wrong in reporting irregularities to envato support, I think beetlesales should apologize for what he said.but to answer your question, since they are so many themes and different reviewers, you can help them fight people who steal by informing envato support about problems you find around the marketplace. But don’t forget that what is a theft for you envato support may think is ok.
also this is not a prison so the “snitch” law doesn’t apply
another thing, authors are allowed to have multiple accounts, so what may appear as a theft it may actually be the same author with a different account.
You’ll get an apology out of me when pigs hatch eggs and Landon learns proper grammar.

Here’s the thing Ivor, how does his pointless threads benefit this community at all? Calling others out (intentionally) is not the way to resolve an issue. Instead of him posting a thread regarding someone else’s designs, he should simply contact support.

he asked what to do if he finds someone who steal from other authors. We answered that he needs to contact support.
You said he should not report else he is a snitch, now you post that he needs to contact support.

I was actually asking if there was something Envato was going to do (or is doing) to stop this kind of thing themselves. Their cut goes somewhere, right?
I actually HAD a theme 80% done, but it was on my SSD in the WAMP folder, I forgot about it while I was stressed trying to fix my computer, formatted my SSD – and now it’s gone. I have good memory with that kind of thing though, so I should be able to reproduce.

Would love to see even a Dribbble-sized shot of something you have made yourself…
On topic: Design is stealing, whether you think you are or not. Your mind just doesn’t come up with things, it uses memories of things it has recorded. Everyone is stealing in some regard and while there are a lot of similar themes, buyers are gorging on them like they’re the best thing since sliced bread so authors can do whatever the hell they want if they don’t respect themselves enough to come up with original work.
/thread

I swear there was a bigger one, but this is what I could find

That one I have – I was pissed about the shadow in the menu looking funny so I decided not to use it.
The one I did code looked a lot better, though.

I agree with this many of the top themes which people think the authors have came up with themselves, look very similar to sites that have existed for before the theme was released…
theres a difference from inspiration and copying and unless its pixel for pixel or code for code it most likely would be considered as inspiration even in the case where things have been removed with DCMA could easily be fought(and won)
don’t get me wrong if someones calling something inspiration where you can directly look at another theme and know where it came from it should be removed from the marketplace but its a huge grey area on whats really copying
