Hi – I just bought a good project without realizing that it was a CS5 -only one, I didn’t double check the tiny 12 point font for version compatibility before buying.
It would be a BIG help to me and other buyers if a) you didn’t accept cs5-only projects in the first place, at least not yet, or at least b) put a BIG warning icon or other flag on the projects that are cs5 only that CLEARLY tell us you need cs5 to use it.
I’m sure at least 60-70% of us are still using CS4 (and happy with it) since we don’t want to pay up for cs5 and all the plugin upgrade costs that would entail.
So, vh can you please somehow separate out the CS5 -only projects or at least put a big ICON or WARNING FLAG : CS5 ONLY somehow in the descriptions, at least til most of us migrate up to cs5 in a year or whatever?
what do other buyers think? I realize most authors have cs5, but I’d bet a lot of other buyers still use CS4 and can’t use cs5-only projects.
Also NO OTHER AE Template SITES ANYWHERE have cs5-only projects, everyone else has 100% CS4 compatible projects like they should be. Please fix this. At least start a new category or put a big icon warning us CS5 ONLY PROJECT clearly near the buy button or elsewhere, the current small font is hard to remember to double-check before buying a project.
Why are you taking CS5 -only compatible projects anyways? That makes no sense. Many of us are using CS4 and happy with it.
Why are they taking CS5 projects? Many of you have CS4 ? That’s sounds kind of selfish, well,I don’t think it’s VH’s fault, that’s why they put the version, before buying it’s normal to check the version.
And I think as a Pro Buyer
,you should look more carefully at these stuff.

That would be pretty discriminatory against anyone who started using AE in the last 15 months since CS4 ceased to be available.
graphic4444 saidSounds a bit overblown. Do we need a big warning about frame rates, formats etc. too? I think big warnings tend to be somewhat offputting.
b) put a BIG warning icon or other flag on the projects that are cs5 only that CLEARLY tell us you need cs5 to use it.
graphic4444 saidI’d guess a little less than that. But it would be a guess.

I’m surprised you haven’t upgraded actually Ken. As I’ve mentioned before, if you’re a heavy user of AE and have a halfway serious hourly rate, the time saving will pay for the costs / hassle of upgrading in less than a month. After four weeks, you’re in the profit zone.

Well that backward compatibility plug-in (Open Sesame) should be released soon so it won’t matter anyway

We all know that the projects are clearly marked with the details in the right side column. Its not that hard to check.
I’m on version 5.5 and haven’t used CS4 in a longest time. As applications evolve so do users and the marketplace.
It might be a good idea to survey buyers to see how many of us would like to see projects still in cs4 compatible mode, instead of cs5 only. Agree re someday I’ll upgrade, but it’s not in the budget right now. I’m fairly certain many if not most of your buyers are still using CS4 as well. Authors, many of you are fulltime gfx artists and have likely upgraded, but many of us buyers have not. Also I do all my own video production work exclusively just for my own websites (I have no clients), so like for many of us, we use ae to produce promo videos, but are still very happy with CS4 .
Survey, vh? or other buyers, speak out… how many of you would like to see CS4 only, and/or at least make a big note if they’re in CS5 only? solution: having a small red 150×150px red icon with “CS5 only” in it, somewhere near the project, would be a good flag, or similar, to warn all of us majority CS4 buyers, away from buying those non-compatible cs5 templates. Other buyers have spoken up as well about this. other buyers, what do you say?
